Spencer Marx

Post by Davis on 11/20/2012, 3:04 am

Name: Spencer Terra Marx

Nicknames: Spence, Sparrow, Commy (last one used as a derogatory term, and it's something she utterly despises with every fiber of her being.)

Age: 17, birthday January 9th. The year has been omitted so that I don't have to change her age from year to year. Role play character's don't age, silly.

Gender: Female biologically. She identifies as a girl, too, though she won't bat an eye if someone refers to her as "he." Neither pronoun bothers her--she's most often seen hanging out with guys, so you'd be surprised how often she gets mistaken for a dude, at least, from far away. At this point, Spence doesn't even bother to correct people.

Sexual Orientation: Bisexual! Loves her some girls and boys, though her preference is towards woman.

God Parent: Thanatos, minor god, or sometimes referred to as daemon personification of death. Thanatos resides in the underworld, when he's not being held captive by Gaea and her children. He doesn't ever visit Spencer, as is expected of a Greek God from Hades. He's got a job to do, and she's got her own life to live. It doesn't bother her that much, really. The thought of being visited by death is a little bit strange. He does, however, seem to send her quite a few Christmas gifts, despite her being Jewish. See the notes section for gift details.

Mortal Parent: Evelyn Marx is her mother, though Spencer refuses to address her as "mom." She wasn't around enough for Spencer to have a particularly close relationship to her. The woman just exists as someone to put the house name under, really. She's not cruel or anything, and Spence certainly doesn't hate her. She's just not a big fan, either. Evelyn is completely neutral.

Country of Origin: Spencer hails from Canada, and is damn proud of it. She's straight out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, so her regional dialect is Atlantic Canadian, i.e. that of most other Haligonians. It's similar to a Californian accent, though she still raises the diphthong in words like out and about, stereotypical to Canadian speech. And, if she's had too much to drink, her mother's Scottish accent can come out--though you may not notice since her words slur together to the point that it's difficult to decipher her words, anyway.

Race/Ethnicity: Spencer is a demigod, and belongs to the Godly and Human race, 50/50. To be a little more specific, though, Spencer has blood that traces back to Scottish and Jewish heritage, her mom having moved to Halifax from Glasgow in her mid-twenties, just after giving birth to Spence.

Eyes: A soft yet stunning blue in color, similar to that of newborn children. Her eyes just never darkened from their original blue state, due to the low concentration of melanin. Her eyes are deep set, even slightly hooded, which also aids in darkening the outskirts, to brighten her iris. To enunciate the color even more, Spence often wears eye liner--she's usually never seen without it, for that matter. Mascara isn't necessary, though, as she has naturally long, thick eyelashes.

Hair: Spence was blessed with very thick hair. It's dark and wavy, with the shortest stopping at around chin length, where her bangs grew out. The edges of her hair are choppy, and cascades to the bottom of her shoulder blades, rolling down her neck and upper back. Often times, for the sake of convenience, Spence will tie her hair up into a side bun or messy back bun, where the fussy hairs refuse to stay intact, and often poke out, flopping about. Even if she's not doing intense worse, Spence usually has to re-do her hair three or four times a day just to attempt to keep it tamed and groomed. When she doesn't fix it, by the end of the day her hair is a lion's mane of curly black tangles that might make a good home for a bird or twelve.

Face: Most comments regarding how young Spencer looks is a result of how young her facial features are. Unlike many, she never grew out of her freckles, the little brown dots littering her face like a galaxy of stars burning through the galaxy. And they're not limited to just her cheeks, either. They're scattered across her forehead and chin, under and over her nose. The girl's even got them in her ears and rolling down her neck, spreading across her arms and legs. The farther they get from her face, though, the fainter they seem to grow, presumably because they don't much see the light of day.

Spencer's also still got the baby fat on her face, with every feature being dulled and rounded, and even a little bit pudgy. She's got a nubby, piglet nose and almost no point to her chin whatsoever. She's got large, rounded ears that hang from the lobe and are large enough to poke out from under her jungle of hair, and her cheeks are so squishy you can bounce a dime off them and receive no less than a jiggle. It's a wonder that she has any cheek bones under them at all.

Though it may sound like a broken record, Spencer's got thick hair. Hair on her head, eye lashes, and, yes, this includes eyebrows. It's not something particularly great for her, but hey, she can't be perfect. Her eyebrows are bushy and expand a little farther than they should, about a centimeter longer than what's proportionately ideal for her face, which doesn't seem like a big deal until you see it up close and she's nearly got a unibrow that Matt Dillon can't even compare to. It's something of an embarrassing natural flaw, but never fear, because that's what waxing and plucking is for. Most people don't even know of her almost-unibrow problem because she keeps those eyebrows trimmed to neat slivers, curving down and fading out at the bridge of her nose. She sneaks out of camp if she needs to just to get them plucked, and goes twice a week just to ensure that they don't rear their ugly heads in front of the rest of society.

One other noticeable trait Spence has is her overbite, and tendency to rest her front teeth on her lower lip, just visible with her lips slightly parted most of the time. Because they're rather thin and lack the typical feminine red plumpness, when she's not paying attention, her mouth doesn't always shut entirely, leaving a few of her teeth casually bared, thanks to the jaw alignment. It's forced her into a bad habit of chewing her bottom lip when she's nervous, in deep concentration or downright board. Some consider this a strange but cute quirk, others think find the overbite as a flaw. If you asked Spence, she'd go, "What overbite?" It makes no difference to her. As long as you're addressing the unruly pink scar above her lip, or accusing her of having too much eyebrow hair, she doesn't much care about her physical description.

Body: In the simplest terms, her body is a skinny, petite frame, lined with underlying, subtle muscle tone through inadvertently working out with her pranks and mischievous heists. She's got very delicate, fair skin, splattered with freckles and glistening pink scars that are a result of her wide array of stunts and mishaps, as well as some trouble that were out of her control. She's tiny for her age group, standing at 5 feet exactly, with most of her friends looming over her by half a foot at least, usually more because she spends most of her time with guys. And she's light as a feather, weighing in at 75lbs, approximately, which is slender even for her height, or lack thereof.

Unlike her rounded face, Spencer's body's got quite a few curves and points. She's got long, bony fingers and elbows that could knife you, with a naturally accentuated collar bone (ever tried holding water in the conclave of your clavicle? She has!) and ribs that look like they might pop out. Run your fingers down her back and you can feel every detail of her spinal cord. She's got a bit of a pronounced tush, but that's accompanied by a very humble chest, being extremely flat. So she's only got half of the hourglass shape girls strive for. Hips but no hills, as she likes to say. And, again, that suits her just fine.

Spoiler:

Personality: Spencer is a fearless girl. Her knack for adventure and unyielding curiosity puts Bear Grylls to shame, allowing her to flow easily into new environments and take a look around. Touching is an absolute must, and if it's untouchable? Hah! Nothing's untouchable. Even if the consequences could be severe, Spencer is too tempted to let mysteries go. She'll skip down a dark ally if a post-it note told her to, just to find out what was down there--good or bad. It tends to get her into mischief, but with Spence, what doesn't? Her courage can be mirrored by her idiocy and failure to plan ahead for mishaps. And tactics are practically non-existent; the poor girl couldn't plan an event if she had ten coordinators handcuffed to her. Spence has a 'do now, think never' attitude at nearly all times. She's also extremely courageous. Although, many would argue that she's just really dense. No doubt the girl's unobservant. For as much as she snoops around, she only picks up what she's looking for. Everything else completely escapes her mind, and huge clues can be missed this way.

Despite being a little dull, Spence makes a fantastic acquaintance. She's extremely affable and easy to approach and begin conversation with. The difficulty lies within keeping the conversation in the air, as the poor girl jumps through subjects like Frogger dives out of the way of cars. She's got a motor mouth, and when a subject is particularly interesting to her, she can actually stick to it for a while. It can easily get to be something you wish she didn't do, as she'll spew facts and thoughts and muse about her interests all day without taking a breath. Introverts can find this fact about her very alarming, and their cue to get the heck out before she says the entire ramble again backwards.

Reliability is something that's rather fickle with Spence. If she really, really likes you, or your cause, she'll carry you over burning coal without shoes. She will do everything in her power not to let you down, and remains loyal until you shatter her trust. Never will she betray you; it's like she's bound by some strange sacred oath. However, if you haven't fully earned her trust, don't expect any of it. She'll sway to whoever pays more, and swap allegiances in the snap of a finger to whatever tickles her fancy. Sometimes, she'll dupe everyone and make off with the goods. Be extremely cautious of any any promises she makes until she has a track record of not messing around with you or you'll regret it. The girl's got a fiery, manipulative appeal that'll have you shoveling money her way, and she'll promise to return it to you tenfold, then disappear the next day. Don't believe a word that rolls off her sweet tongue--especially if she tells you everything you want to hear. No doubt she will, too, if she wants something from you.

Should you be blessed with a Spencer favor, though, known ahead of time that she'll require something in return. The girl might not have a task at the top of her head at the moment, thanks to that aforementioned lack of planning, but something will pop up, and she never fails to collect. When she starts something, she finishes it, no matter the results. Spence is a girl of irritating persistence and determination, who adores a good challenge. Actually, she has a difficult time saying no. And the slimmer her odds in accomplishing it are, the more fired up she gets about it. Spence adores nice competition and huge, overwhelming missions. She's far too confident for her own good and bites off more than she can chew half the time, usually requiring a little help--something she's always far too stubborn to admit to. Spence does her best in small groups so that when she goes in screaming and swinging, someone else can bail her out after she's hit her limit.

Despite how nice Spence can be, she tends to look scary to outsiders. More often than not, people get choked up when talking to her. Unfortunately, first impressions are key with this girl, and if you don't strike a good cord on the first go, forget about any chance in the future with her. Spence looks for bravery in her friends, while not overpowering cockiness. If it's a threat to her own overpowering presence, it's not desirable. And if you're a straight out butthole, Spence will fire back insults with no hesitation whatsoever. Don't bother apologizing, she holds grudges until the end of time and will not forgive you until you make up for it tenfold it favors. Did you insult her shoes in first meeting? Save her about fourty times, then maybe she'll consider forgiving you. But, as mentioned, because of those she hangs out with, and how strong her presence is, Spence comes off as cold and standoffish, which isn't necessarily false. Get on her bad side and that's exactly what she becomes.

At one time a hopeless romantic, Spence has now given up on the idea that love exists at all, and more often than anything has flings just for the fun of it. She's much more interested in the physical aspect than the emotional aspect, and, if you're a stranger to her, she'll manipulate your heartstrings and kick you to the curb when she's bored. The more the merrier for Spence, but don't except anything long term. Spence doesn't do relationships and keeps her heart guarded. She's an easy person to get near, but next to impossible to truly reach into. The walls stay up until they're smashed down by someone else. Pry too much, though, and she'll push you away. Spence requires time to open up, which is extremely hypocritical to how nosy she is--if you've got a secret or a guilty pleasure, and Spence catches wind, expect to be prodded and poked until you give up. All a part of that unfortunate persistent trait of her personality.

Youthful would be the kind way of talking about how Spencer gets when she finds something she really likes. Others would, more accurately, call her childish. She's hard to peel away from anything of interest and bounces off the walls if she's had too much sugar or gets overly hyped up. It's not often, but it can happen. And after she's reached this level, hanging out with her is more or less a matter of babysitting the kid and keeping her out of trouble. She becomes just a little more confident and conceited than she usually is, and turns into something of an egotistical airhead. If Spence is gonna do something in this state, she's only gonna do it for herself or someone super close. Peasants can find the exit.

Even when not in one of these moods, though, she's still spacey. It ties in with the idea of her being dull. She's ADHD to the max and acts like it, floating everywhere, touching everything, and forgetting what was previously mentioned. Despite this, though, Spence is very good at following directions and carrying out commands when need be. Just like in times of euphoria all her senses dull, in times of stress, they heighten and prepare her for battle. That's not to say she hasn't got her flaws. That headstrong, hubristic nature is still there. She's just a little more calm and collected. And much, much scarier. A Spencer barking orders can look like something straight out of a nightmare. It's highly recommended not to get on her bad side, or otherwise feel the wrath of her rage. She bottles it up and refuses to get mad at little things, so when something she deems worthy of her anger happens, she lets it all out. All of it. Has she ever killed anyone? Not yet. Is there a first time for everything? Oh yeah.

Likes: Spencer likes a wide array of things. She's all for colors, both cool and warm, so long as they're bright and pop--usually accents to black, white or grey, as reflected by the outfits she wears. And, like a child, she's easily amused by shiny, bouncy, fuzzy, and adorable things. The things she finds to be adorable, though, they're interesting, to say the least. She really likes snakes and snails, as well as larger, furrier creatures like bears and hawks. Spence loves feathers and has a collection of them, as well as a collection of things that say Spencer on them, regardless of what they are. She has a license plate hanging above her bed with her name on it, she's got a Spencer mug and a Sparrow hoodie. Along with her name, she really loves other names, typically designated to boys, that girls have. She gets giddy when she finds girls in the same boat as her, constantly mistaken for the opposite gender, especially when they have names to match. Actually, she just really likes girls in general. And boys. and kissing, especially in cliched moments like under mistletoe or in the rain. Rest assured, the girl reads cheesy fanfiction, though love is but a mystical fantasy. She's into chick-flicks as much as she is action movies, and adore anime and comics like it's nobody's business. She can't draw much, but watching people draw is always something she enjoys. Painting, too.

She specializes in stealing for Velocity, so of course she takes enjoyment out of that, as well as bets and races. Races she often wins. Bets, not so much... Not that it'll stop her from making a gamble--she's an addict. Give her booze, cash and kisses, and Spence is set for the night. Also maybe some food, since that's pretty high on the things-Spencer-loves list, too. Especially sweet foods like pastries and candies. While she loves them, it's a pretty bad idea to load her up on pixy stixs or energy drinks or cotton candy. She'll never go to sleep.

Like her nickname suggestions, Spence also really likes Sparrows. And vultures, and finches, and ducks. In general, she just loves birds. Especially the scary ones, with talons and huge flesh ripping beaks that eat deceased things and worms. Hummingbirds are really pretty too, but mostly because they're fast. Otherwise, they're a little boring for her. Lights aren't boring though! Flashing, colorful light shows are fantastic! Especially outside, like at carnivals and amusement parks. Spence might as well be put on a leash when she enters them. She wants to ride all the fastest, biggest rides and lose her lunch. And her inner child practically cries tears of joy when she finds carnival games. Giving her money there is a terrible idea--they're all rigged, even Spence knows it. But she's convinced that if she keeps playing, she'll win something by the end of the night.

Music is another big love of hers. Music and dancing, which Spence likes quite an array of. She's been to raves and punk parties and night clubs. So long as the music fits the atmosphere, and she can throw her head around or dance to it, it's cool in her book. Her ipod has a wide variety of electronic music, folk punk, metal, hip-hop, rap, post-rock, ska, and an absurd amount of bands nobody's ever heard of that she picked up from someone somewhere at sometime. All illegally downloaded, of course. Who pays for music? ...Who pays for anything?

Dislikes: There aren't many things that Spence can say she hates off the top of her head, except for the cliches: toolbags, child abuse, zombies, vegetables, picking on the weak, cruel and unusual punishment, and spiders. She can't say she's a big fan of the color brown, either. Old people and starfish creep her out a little bit, too. Otherwise, you'd have to let her see something she hates before she could tell you she hates it.

Pets: A tiny snail named "The Lich" that lives in an aquarium stationed at Spence's bedside. It's filled with plants and rocks and a blue angel fish that swims around aimlessly. The Lich eats the algae so the tank is self-cleaning and doesn't require a filter--Spencer just refills the water ever now and again. She still hasn't thought up a name for the fish in the tank, so she just calls it "Blue Fish." She likes to think that Blue Fish and The Lich are friends.

Talents: Running has been something Spence always excelled at; her friends didn't just call her Sparrow for nothing. She's as quick on her feet as her mind is sharp, able to register detail and dodge danger at the drop of a pin. She's extremely agile, having beenn quite the gymnast in her day. It's possible she could've gone on to be award winning, had she stayed with an innocent life. Spence craves movement, and is an athletic freak. Among running just for fun, swinging on bars and doing handsprings and keg stands, she's also an avid kickboxer. And in school, Spence was on the soccer team. She's got ADHD to the max, and refuses to sit still, instead drifting about finding things to do, making games out of movements just to relieve boredom and satisfy her cravings to bounce. She might be tiny, and her strength may not show, but deep down she's got an incredible fighting style, which revolves primarily around dancing about on her toes, simply waiting for her opponent to tire out before making her own move. Her punches are decent, but it's her kicks that are bone crushing. It's heavily advised to watch out for those.

Not related to running about and making a mess of things, Spence likes to play with feelings. It's strangely gratifying for her, though she doesn't believe in love, she adores the act of flirting and kissing, just to see how many heads she can turn by the end of the night. It's given her something of a home-wrecker reputation, but who cares? Certainly not the little Sparrow. And with all her experience comes learning. To keep it vague, Spence knows how to please with her tongue in more ways than one.

Weapon: Charm, and when that fails, a trusty old scythe with a crooked celestial bronze blade. The staff is made of black corundum, spanning out about four and a half feet, with the blade at the end. The blade archs out a foot and a half itself, and has a strange shine in the moonlight. The weapon weighs about twelve pounds, extremely light considering its size and material, but makes it a suitable weapon for an agile fighter. Spence has named it "Monster,' and when Monster isn't being used it shrinks down into a smooth black ring that fits to her left middle finger. Spence is right handed so when she summons the weapon, she pulls it off her finger and the scythe lengthens in her hand as she swings it out, usually swiping in front of her to give the rod room to expand, as well as to hack at any enemies that are too close for comfort. Plus, it looks cool. But she does wield the weapon itself in her right hand, or somethings both hands if she's sacrificing her defense for some extra strength in her swing.

Her secondary weapon is a stygian iron knife with a 6 inch flat blade. The hilt is made of steel and always seems to be cool to the touch. There is a border around the edges of the handle and then inside is an intricate design of souls clawing at the gates of Tartarus crafted into its handle, but Spence has since wrapped black cloth around that to cover it. The knife blade is jagged with a mild curve, and has serrated edges on the inside. When Spence wields it, she grips it with her thumb over the bolster, or bottom of the handle, as opposed to gripping it to jam it upwards. It's more of a defensive than offensive tool,  used primarily to block oncoming attacks and provide an opening for her scythe to strike.

The knife, unlike her primary weapon, does not change form to something a little less obscure looking, so she usually keeps a sheath on her, positioned sideways and wrapped on a belt around her waist. When the knife is away, the handle sticks out to the left so it's easy to immediately make a reach for with her left arm in the heat of combat. Her shirt doesn't usually cover it (and when she tries, it looks a little strange on her back) so she just lets it show. People could attempt to steal it from her, hypothetically, but if noticed, you'd have to be extremely quick on your toes to get away before Spence brings the scythe splitting through your skull. Trying to steal the knife while it's sheathed isn't a particularly intelligent idea.

Armor: A whole iron get-up complete with chest plate and helmet? Not really something Spence does. But if she knows for a fact she'll be going out for a fight, she does do a little bit of a wardrobe prep. Her whole act revolves around agility, so it's extremely important she stays light and loose. That's why her clothes consist of a black bandeau bra to support her non-existent chest and baggy black sweatpants. She got the pants designed at the Jersey Shore on one of her visits to have a bright blue spiral triskele on the side of right thigh area of her pantleg. She also wears blue kevlar sleeves that provide a minor resistance to cuts. It's primarily burn resistant, though not impossible. They very well still can be burned, but if a spark flew free of a machine, for instance, and landed on the kevlar, it would protect her skin. If her arm was on fire? That's another story entirely. Only water or a butt-ton of baking soda can help her then.

Spence received a gift from her father during one of the solstices of 12/13, that accompanies her everywhere. It's a teleportation stone. A small, bright blue crystal point with a hole drilled through on the opposite end of the point, where a leather chord snakes through to make the stone into a necklace. The teleportation stone allows Spencer to teleport her and anything touching her (so clothes, backpack, second person holding her hand, etc.) go to her desired destination when she wishes it, so long as the stone is with her. The stone works once a day, and recharges via moonlight, and it can only take her to places that she has previously been to. So she couldn't take herself to, say, Macedonia, but she could take herself to the pizza place in her hometown. When the stone is out of juice, it fades to gray. In order for her to go somewhere, she has to visualize the specific place in her mind. The transportation takes approximately fifteen seconds, and if interrupted (someone throws a rock at her, for instance) then the stone runs out of juice for the day but she doesn't actually go anywhere. During the fifteen seconds her body is absorbed in a shimmer and becomes increasingly transparent until she's gone. As she's grown transparent in the place that she once was, her form is appearing somewhere else. The process can be stopped from either side, and during transportation Spencer can't walk, run or fight. And if she can't clearly think of the destination and visualize it in her mind, she can't go. The solstice topic from 2013 has since been purged from the site, or otherwise lost.

In June, during the Summer Solstice, Spencer received another toy from her dad: a dirt bike that is proportionate to small rider's size that can hold no more than two people (rider +1) and is shielded from humans by the mist. This dirtbike goes MAX 65 mph, an average for bikes. When not in use, like the weapons of other halfbloods, it reduces its form into a sleek black wristwatch that Spencer can wear. The watch is waterproof, thankfully, so she never has to take it off. Information on how she obtained it can be found here.

Powers: Wound Transferal. Spencer can absorb and take on the wounds of another person through touch.  The deeper the wound is, the longer it takes to transfer all the damage. When she takes somebody else's wounds, she feels the pain they did. The procedure goes a little more quickly if contact is made directly with the wound. For instance, if she's transferring a stab wound to herself from another body, if she lays her hand on the wound and lays another on her where the wound will show up (it appears in the same place) it will go a little more quickly. To transfer the average 4 inch stab wound it takes about a minute. Fifty seconds if she's making contact with it. Contact CAN be made through thin fabric, i.e. t-shirts or jeans. Not through coats or anything like that, though.

Unfortunately, the wound transferal is one-sided. She can't transfer wounds from herself onto others, not even something as tiny as the paper cut, making the power a more of a curse than a gift. To know that you can save someone, to play as a god and choose whether to let them suffer or to take their pain away, it's a huge question and weight on her back. She's been used before just to heal the injured, and as such is extremely picky about who she heals and who she doesn't. If someone is in grave danger, and a stranger to Spence, then for all she care nowadays they can bleed out. If it's someone she knows, she'll consider helping a little bit more. But she feels all the pain the others felt, so transferring a wound isn't something she'll readily do. Earning her trust is key to benefiting from her power.

Sometimes Spencer will also trade her gift of saving your poor butt for favors. And she will collect. It's amazing how easy it is to bargain with the injured. They get so scared they're going to die! While it's not a power, Spence picked up the skill of determining whether a wound is basic or fatal. She certainly wouldn't want to take the latter; that would leave her dead in a gutter somewhere.

History: Spencer's history is a tadbit grim, though she'd tell you it was extremely benificial to the creation of her personality... for better or for worse. For as long as Spence could remember, she was parentless. Her father, she'd never met him before. Evelyn just said it was some guy she had a fling with at a dockside bar prior to her departure to Canada. Spence thought nothing of it. But being a single mom immigrating overseas was stressful on Evelyn, and forced her to work a whole lot more than she and Spence wanted. The poor woman worked as a desk secretary for a small law firm during the day, and moved to "Sydney House," a rowdy bar in downtown to work another shift until the sun crawled into the sky the next morning. She'd trudge home and collapse on the couch or in bed for just a few hours, before repeating the process. That left Spence with nannies when she wasn't in school, and she did not take well to them at all. Constantly she'd be trapping them in the basement or locking them outside, pulling pranks and getting her babysitters in trouble with the neighbors and cops. She was the devil child nobody wanted to babysit. And after a while, she must've earned a reputation in the sitter community, because less and less people volunteered to watch her while Evelyn was gone.

It didn't matter, though, because Spence was tough, and very independent. She microwaved her own dinners, made her own lunches, did (some of) her own homework, kept her room clean (enough to walk through without tripping) and got to school (almost) on time. She certainly wasn't the best child, but under the circumstances, Spence was pretty okay. Heck, she only lit the curtains on fire once!

Teachers didn't really seem to see the good in her, though. Constantly she got calls home talking about how problematic she was, with social workers snooping through the trash every time she or Evelyn brought it to the curb. Spence hated the teachers who got nosy, or the cops who slowed down every time they passed her little townhouse, peering out their windows to get a look inside. She did not take kindly to people forcing their help down her throat. Spence could do things by herself.

When Evelyn got fired from her secretary position for falling asleep one too many times at the front desk, the family began to struggle for money and a means of living. In an effort to move to a more prosperous area with open jobs, they packed up and transferred, again, this time to New York City in the U.S. Unfortunately, work was just as difficult to find there as it was anywhere else, despite what realty advertisements promised. And that's when Spence decided to take it upon herself to help out. She was 12 by then, and had some older friends who weren't exactly role models. They crowded street corners, passing product and causing mayhem. Many were anarchists who looted and lacerated just for the fun of it while others were there because they really needed the money. Some were just sadistic individuals who couldn't really tell you the reason they worked on the things they did. Spence? She was inducted pretty quick through a friend of a friend upon the realization that she had the strange ability to take away wounds from others.

A few days a week and on most weekends her buddies and new commanders would pull up in their 2010 black challenger and whisk Spence away from school. She didn't protest. They'd drive around the city, mapping the place out for her, explaining heist jobs and looting protips. Which gangs were friendly and which were foes, the easiest way to hold up ATMs and who made good pickpocket targets. She learned the ropes, training with each gang specialist until she found her own niche. She was especially persuasive and, as she grew older, used flirting as a distraction while she robbed you blind. She could take the scarf off your neck and you'd never even notice as long as she kept purring promises in your ear.

Most of the time, young men were the targets. Cute ones, if she could get them. Or rich. Either worked for Spence, really. She enjoyed it either way, and made out well most of the time. When heists went awry, backup was called and some terrifying boys with crowbars rounded the nearest corner to make sure nod a word was spilled while Spence counted the cash. It wasn't an honest life, but it sure as well was a fun one. And it paid very well.

For years Spencer kept this up, moving on to new things like shop robbery and enemy gang ambushes. Spencer became not only a full-fledged member, but a fairly high ranking. She was a special type--gave very few orders, but stayed like a puppy at the bosses side. If he went into battle, she was there with him, healing up any damage he took. It dawned on her that she was a tool, and as time passed, she began to question it. The difficulty with questioning it was that you were accusing the boss of manipulating you. And when the boss happens to double as your boyfriend? Well, things get a little sticky.

Spence and her boyfriend, a figure who's identity will remain secret, had a falling out. A big one. A punch-your-girl-friend-into-the-ground kind of falling out. Not that Spence didn't retaliate; she got a nice few kicks to the jaw in. But in the end the relationship shattered, and Spence ended up walking out. She did remain loyal to the rest of the gang though, as many of them were still her friends, and a few of which even detested the boss for what he did.

A specific boy, whose identity will also remain secret, made it a point to glue himself to Spence after her big break up. She paid him no notice as a romantic interest, but that didn't make him any less kind or humorous. The two got along well, and there was a great deal of trust between them. When he sent her on a mission to Long Island, New York to check out some sort of camp, she agreed. He claimed the job would pay greatly, and she could go solo. Since the boss had been her old partner, solo sounded excellent, and she shipped off the next day with a messenger bag slung to her side and a fistful of cash in her shorts.

Several hours later, she arrived, and to her surprise, the boy who'd sent her on the mission was already there, grinning like an idiot in front of an giant arching sign that read, "Camp Half Blood." He dragged her across the border, introducing her to Chiron, who explained her situation, and how she was able to transfer wounds because she was a demigod--a child of a god or goddess. That night at dinner, while the boy, his legs carpeted in shaggy fur and capped with clumsy hooves, discussed camp activities with her, she was claimed by her father. Thanatos declared her through a slow carving of a scythe and skull into the table they were seated at, which had a few of the other kids gaping.

It was made clear to Spence that, being a demigod, she could have a weapon forged together. Well, she wasn't dumb. If the idiots were going to arm her for free, then heck yes she'd oblige and play along as their demigod of Thanatos! Within a week she had a dagger and scythe made, custom to her liking. The Hephy kids weren't too happy with her choice in material, but she insisted that it went well with the whole God of Death thing.

At this point, she's been at camp for a few weeks and is beginning to accept the idea that she's a demigod. Rather than being scared by the thought, she's ecstatic. Her first letter was accepted and replied to by her mother, confirming it and wishing her luck in camp under the assumption that she'd be staying. Little did anyone know that Spence had no intention of staying during the school year. Spence is a summer camper who returns to New York City during every other season to cause more mayhem with her group.

Social Status: While she comes off as a loner, Spence actually does best in small groups of a variety of people. Punks, skaters, nymphos, geeks, gangsters, etc. It's less about social standing and more about personality, so she fits in with a bunch of people--most of whom are on the same ragtag team that makes up Velocity. She herself is an awkward mix of all of the aforementioned, with a touch if twelve year old mixed in. She's a dancer and could fit into the hip hop/street crew, but she also moshes about and could mingle just as well with the rockers. Basically, she's in every clique and no clique. Velocity just about sums it up. And while she used to be lower class with a lot of money problems running in the family, once she picked up theft, she grew to a firm middle class standing. She might even be considered upper-middle class in some regions.

Camper Status: Spencer only stays at camp during the summer, unbeknownst to her mother, who assumes she stays all year. She tells the camp she's going to school, and tells mom she's going to camp. Meanwhile, she does neither during the off-seasons, and kicks back in Velocity base or goes out on heists and missions, or just causes general chaos with her friends while trying to avoid the cops.

Years at Camp: This would be her first. She's not a big fan of the camp itself, but if she gets to run around and break things for free, then hey, she's game. Plus, they gave her weapons! How sweet is that? Usually she has to go through a bunch of older friends to get anything fun to play with. Just a pity that she hasn't gotten anything with gun powder in it yet.

Rp Example: The moon was perched high in the sky, its light casting an eerie glow separated into shafts through the dead trees of the winter night. Snow crunched under her shoes as Spencer moved through the desolate area, sticking to cover for the most part, and out of the light. She tightened her jacket and shook her head, shivering slightly as her breath disappeared into the crispy air. It had been something of a trek, all the way from the cabin out the gates and through the woods, down a stretch of road and around a small town to a graveyard filled with unmarked tombstones. But eventually the girl found herself in front of an altar, which she took a seat upon. Normally that would be disrespectful, but Spencer wasn't the type to give a damn about that. She pursed her lips. Sylphen was late again. Sylphen was the alias of the boy who'd tricked her into moving to Camp Half Blood in the first place. He'd originally be a member of Velocity with Spence, specializing in programming and hacking from his little van on the corner. Quite a knack he had for bugging security cameras, he had. Sylphen was one of the few people Spencer still saw nowadays, but that was about to change. She was ready to go home.

It was only a few minutes of collecting snow in her hair before Sylphen arrived. Spence heard his noisy clopping before he materialized in the powder, which fell from the sky in an increased degree. Air was crisp enough tonight that Spencer wouldn't be surprised if the cabins were all snowed in by morning. Khione would have a field day. Sylphen's real name wasn't Sylphen, of course. It was Charles. But in Velocity, everyone used aliases when not in base. And technically, the duo were off base. Very far from it, for that matter. He sighed, bleating out into the air. "Is this really what you want, Sparrow?"

There was no hesitation. Without missing a beat, the girl nodded and hopped off the tombstone, holding out her hand. After rolling his eyes, Sylphen took it. "I need to go back and see Lucky, Panther, Twelve and the others."

Syl eyed her carefully, taking the lead and heading towards the stairway entrance of the graveyard. "And what about your mom?"

"Yeah, her too I guess. Lace said she was okay last time he checked on her." Spence shrugged and took hops through the snow, staring down at her shoes. She swung her hand and, through force, Sly's hand, their arms casting shadows over the tombs. When they reached the car, Spence smiled, taking a moment to circle around front, dragging her fingertips gently along the side. "I've missed this thing. It smells like you, ya'know." She winked and Sylph's cheeks grew even pinker than they were from the cold nipping at his skin. He shuffled around and fumbled with the keys in the door. "Just get inside before you freeze." With a tiny chuckle, Spence made her way to the passenger door, clicked it open and slid in, reclining in the seat. She closed her eyes and gave a tiny yawn, licking her frozen lips. "Turn on the heat and wake me when we get there, will ya?"

Lucky for Spence, it was a fairly smooth ride to New York. She only woke when the car came to a stop in a back alley, and for a moment she watched steam from a grate in the street roll over the windshield in her groggy state with joy. The familiar stench of trash and booze filled her nostrils and she let out a small giggle of enthusiasm, that Sylph couldn't help but shake his head at. "Welcome home." They were behind a small bar, his car squeezed between two old brick walls, just short of a dumpster. With a graceful slide and a kick to the door, Spence was out of the car, and practically skipping to the back entrance, a little red door with a closed sign on it. Closed, pffft. Valedictorian was never closed to Sparrow, or any of Velocity for that matter. The bar was a soda bar, of course, but that didn't mean it wasn't deprived of all influence. Not when you asked the right way.

Notes: Spencer has a weak immune system and frequently gets sick. She also has an allergy to pollen, and comes down with strep throat at least once a year. The scar just above her lip, to the right of her nose, is the result of a knife slashing up and cutting through the skin during a heated argument. It was the worst fight she had with her, at the time, boyfriend. Both of them regret it to this day, though they don't dare talk to one another about it. Also, the pendant she has was the winter solstice gift, since, as stated in the application for it, she was not a finished character and therefore did not have a bunk of any sorts to have received it in.

In December, during the Winter Solstice, Spencer received yet another toy from her dad: this one in the form of an animal. Thanatos, for whatever reason, thought Spence could use the help of a small marsupial. This little critter has a fluffy brown coat and always smiles. He's particularly affectionate, nuzzling up against anyone and everyone, and surprisingly empathetic. Given the name Boop for his little wet nose bumps, this little guy follows Spence everywhere--even when told not to. Information on how she obtained it can be found here.

In June again, during the next summer solstice, Thanatos gifted Spencer with a lighter by the name Eternal Flame. It will never run out of juice, and can withstand wind, rain and cold. The only way to douse out this lighter is by submerging it completely in water. More information on the object can be found here. As you can see, Spencer gets a lot of gifts from daddy.

Even though it's not finished I can still look at it.
So, sorry, but we don't allow wound transferral as a power, I would know, I tried.

Kendall saw it as a way to cheat death, and an easy way to kill others.

I'll allow this, but she cannot transfer life threatening wounds, cuts and things like that.
What's the biggest wound she'd be able to transfer?

I'm still playing with her power and what i want to do with it. WIPS FTW. Anyway, since I'm a sadistic bum I kind of only want her to receive wounds. .3. Can I have her not limited to non-fatal wounds if she can only receive them? As in, she could take someone's lethal wound, but... She'd die lol. The time and contact limits are still there, but she can only receive wounds, can't even transfer her own paper cuts to someone else. It's gonna contrast her biting personality. c:

I don't. I love them and I make the people love them. Not my fault the society is impacted more by violent ends than benevolent lives. \owo/ But just you wait~

You should probably add the info about Boop the marsupial into her Pets section.

Powers:
- When she transfers a wound to herself, would she need to wait a certain time period before she could take on another one?
- To clarify: as she's taking on the wound, would she gradually feel the pain or get it all at once when she's done?
- If a wound is poisoned, would she take on the poison too or just the wound from which it entered the body?
- Does this only apply to surface wounds or can it be internal too (such as broken bones that can be seen through a surface wound)?

LBC:
- Did no one find it completely bizarre at all that a girl could take away people's wounds and transfer it onto themselves? The gang seems/seemed surprisingly nonchalant, unless the Mist was altering something about what they saw.

[walls of text hurt but nice job on the form; if i missed many things this first look around i apologize]

@kenny;; i hadnt planned on there being a time period before doing that on account of it being a completely masochistic power but if desired i could at a time? [s]u must wait 30 minutes after eating before u swim[/s]

gradually feel. if your skin starts to rip separate it's gonna hurt lmao

yes, she'd take poison, parasite, anything that continues to do harm to the body.

applies to internal wounds /o/

the gang is actually going to be a sort of chb thing. not every member, but manyl are other demigods. The rest see it but it's not like anyone would believe them if they mentioned it huehue. if that's acceptable, of course.

Powers:
- Adding in a cool-down time would be pleasant, yes. (http://www.camphalfblood.org/t21470-entry-19 as a reference)
- Edit in the info about the internal wounds and the other things that she'll absorb with the wound.

Other than that your form looks good.
