A clearing in the woods.

Post by Jules on 5/17/2013, 4:05 pm

Gina walked into a little clearing that the trees had created by converging upon a bare patch of land, the heart of the woods as it were. She enjoyed finding places like this in which to practice her magic. A crescent moon lit up the sky as the stars twinkled around it as though vying for attention. To Gina's mind however, there was no competition, the moon was beautiful and absolute. Her footsteps made a slight crackling noise, breaking the silence with a resounding snap as she stepped on some dry leaves and twig. The soft hoot of an owl interrupted her thoughts as it took flight into the night sky, unhappy at having been intruded on. Gina could empthaise, she knew the feeling.

Stella, grumbling softly to herself, stalked through the forest with a metaphorical black cloud following her. Idiots, idiots everywhere -- she hated it and wanted them all gone. Why she didn't go back to just killing everybody, she didn't know. She swiped aside a thin tree branch as she made her way deeper into the dark forest, wanting to find a place to sit down and maybe knock down a few trees with her wind powers to vent. She ignored the clear night sky, as well as the lone cloud -- not her dog -- that was drifting by casually. An owl hooted nearby, and when Stella looked up, a large bird flew out of the forest and into the night.

Gina had perched herself on the edge of a fallen log, allowing herself to loosen up as the solitude settled over her like a welcome refuge. Shaking her fiery red hair back, Gina closed her eyes and breathed freely for the first time in days. The last few weeks had been an absolute whirlwind and not in a good way, Gina sighed absently as her eyelids fluttered open again. What she saw however, was enough to make whatever tension had left her creep back into her muscles. What was someone doing here? By the gods, this was supposed to be a secluded place Gina thought, holding back a choice swear. Ordinarily Gina wouldn't have thought twice about pissing off a random stranger but she'd made enough enemies in the last week and was simply weary. Scrutinising the newcomer, Gina wondered if she girl would leave her alone if asked, surely she had come here looking for some privacy as well? In any case, the girl dint seem to have noticed Gina's presence yet, giving her the advantage. Gina rose from her seat so that she stood at her full height of 5.6 and faced the girl, one hand lightly touching her wristband. "Hey", she said quietly, her voice ringing out clearly in the silence of the woods.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

While noisily making her way through the forest, Stella hadn't noticed another girl in the little clearing place she'd just stomped into; she was too busy fuming about how she'd kill every last idiot in camp and then some before summer was over. The beginning of summer, in June -- that was when the rest of the idiots arrived dragging their cartloads of idiocy and romance through the borders. She'd cut them to ribbons and leave them out for the vultures, unless David or one of the wannabe-heroes decided to show up and stop her. Like they ever succeeded.

"Hey."

Stella paused, frowning as she slowly turned in the direction of the voice: a girl standing by a log, with her hand touching her wrist. Why she was doing that, Stella didn't care to know -- but she did notice a wristband there, which probably meant she had some sort of magical weapon disguised as said wristband. Typical. Typical and cheesy. Just the way she liked them. The girl was slightly shorter than her by maybe an inch or so, with fiery red hair and an apparently tense pose at the moment. Stella tilted her head to the side, eyes narrowed cautiously as she regarded the girl. She seemed to be no true threat to her, and should she attack, Stella had the power of the wind on her side. No need to worry.

"Well," Stella finally replied, folding her arms across her chest, "hello to you, too."

Gina appraised the girl as she watched turned to face her, she was only slightly taller and maybe a little older as well? Gina couldnt be sure, the girl just had one of those faces. Noticing the frown on the girls face, she decided that maybe she'd gotten lucky, the girl clearly wasnt looking for company either. And how thick would you have to be to go looking for company in the woods anyway? Coming to this conclusion, Gina relaxed her stance, her gaze never leaving the girl's own narrowed eyes, clearly appraising her. Nonchalant, she turned her back on the girl- sure of her judgement that the girl wouldnt be one to attack from behind- and in two long strides, reached her previous seat.

Having sat down again, Gina wondered how to ask the girl to leave so that she would consider it. Making an effort to be polite did not come naturally to Gina and her mind struggled to form the words required. Gina was just about to give up and tell the girl to beat it when she spoke, "Well, hello to you, too." Lifting her head in some surprise, Gina met the girl's gaze again unsure of what to say. Ugh her thoughts screamed, frustrated, was the camp so swarming full of people that they were spilling out into the woods now? Perhaps she'd have to do old Mr. D a favour then and break her no-killing streak. Slightly cheered by the thought, Gina said to the girl, "So, what brings you here then?"

Well, the girl sat down again, all right -- pretty rude of her. Stella let her eyes wander for a brief moment, noticing a mosquito fluttering inches from her face; in annoyance, she let out a strong puff of air from her mouth at the bug, causing it to fly back two or three feet before it decided to fly off into the woods again. Damned bugs. They were just as annoying as all the people in camp -- only, bugs reproduced much faster than even the gods could. Good on 'em.

"Well, you know. Trying to avoid people in the safety -- or lack thereof -- in this wonderful, wonderful woodland. But apparently the Fates never let that happen for me." For once, Stella didn't intend to insult; she was a bit too mad at the moment to think up any sarcastic, mocking replies. Stella wandered around camp a lot nowadays, trying to look for some secluded place to organize her thoughts and maybe create a hit list of some sort; on all those walks, however, she'd met people and either almost killed them or had a pleasantly annoying conversation with the person. More often than not, however, she'd almost killed them out of pure frustration, even if she hadn't directly been the cause of their almost-death.

She really needed to get out more. There were too many wannabes who needed to learn who were the real serial killers in this hellhole, and there were others who needed to be taken down a notch. Stella didn't like meeting people unless she intended to, stalker-ish as that may sound; she didn't want to be one of those people who flitted around camp showing off or being too over-dramatic and showy in their little murder sprees. Murders were supposed to be quick, painful to the victim, and mainly elaborate -- not the point where you're just showing off, however. Stella liked to play with her victims, though; there was Eric and maybe that Blazer kid Cirrus had almost squashed a few times. They were two fun victims.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Gina watched wide-eyed as the girl blew the mosquito away from her face, Aeolus perhaps? she wondered absently, not going to pose a threat anyway Yet the girl had the kind of presence that gave Gina an instinctive feel of discomfort, this made her wary, she hadn't had that feeling in years. Reminding herself never to underestimate an opponent, a fatal mistake she had seen others make, Gina decided not to judge too quickly. Atleast the girl wasnt some annoying Apollo kid, having secret bonfires in the woods, showing off for their girlfriends. Gina was most annoyed by them, the others she often ran into around here were the Ares kids. They wernt too bad, she got on well with them, mostly because no one stopped to chat it was either killing monsters or fighting eachother, Gina was good with both.

Placing her hand absentmindedly on the nape of her neck, Gina listened as the girl confirmed her hope she wanted to be alone as well, great. If she hadnt said it however, it was easy enough to tell by her expression which was simply downright pissed off. "I've come back to camp recently", she said, "and I'm not used to having people around me all the time, it can get on your nerves pretty quick. I was hoping to be alone as well." Gina worked to get some sympathy into her tone and hoped that the girl would get the drift. Leave me alone she intoned silently, wishing Hecate's power included influencing thoughts. With a start Gina remembered that she could infact make the girl leave by putting her in a trance but it was not something she enjoyed doing to strangers. Hm Gina reflected, more than a little surprised awell as, what was that feeling? Dissapointed at this revalation, maybe she wasnt as sadistic as she gave herself credit for after all.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Stella's eyebrow shot up in response to the girl's little, how do you say, plight. It was common sense to know that it was always hard to be alone in camp, unless you shut yourself up in your cabin all day, but that wasn't Stella's style (and apparently not the girl's, either) -- she left it all up to those old hags the Fates, and if she did happen to chance meeting somebody, well, sucks for them. Stella hadn't killed anybody in a while, except for maybe a few monsters; she was craving demigod blood and, if she chanced to meet another demigod while in a killing mood, she supposed that attacking them would be in order.

"Unfortunately, dear, the camp's too big for anybody to find alone time outside of their cabins. Not that you can't try, of course -- but that's useless, demigods multiply like ants. The gods don't know about birth control, I guess." She shrugged nonchalantly, apparently not understanding the girl's hidden meaning there; Stella wasn't in the mood to pick apart words at the moment. A lot of people were coming back to camp from school or just wandering around in the mortal world; it was common and, to Stella, becoming rapidly annoying. Out loud, she mused to herself, running a hand through her hair and then trying to untangle a knot there: "Maybe it's time to start wiping out some of them...."

Stella looked back at the girl, scrutinizing her in the moonlight; like she'd thought before, the girl didn't look like a threat. That was, however, what all demigods looked like to her. She only considered other demi-Titans to be truthful threats to her and her hobbies, but even then, all she had to worry about was Chris and David, maybe Aeron if she was training a lot more now.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Post by Jules on 5/19/2013, 4:46 pm

Gina raised her eyebrows, more than a little surprised at the casual tone in which the girl was talking about murder. She wasnt quite sure whether the girl was bluffing and so dint know whether to be impressed or exasperated, wannabe toughies were worse than almost anything else. The irreverent manner in which she referred to the gods however made Gina smile, she dint set much store by the Olympians either, she refused to be a pawn. Regardless of this however, Gina was rather curious about the girl's parentage, her blond hair and thin features gave next to nothing away. Although I could probably rule out Hephaestus , Gina thought wryly and Athena too, if the homicidal tendency is any indication.

Not having realised that her reflection on the girl's words had resulted in rather a long pause in their conversation, Gina met the girl's gaze and again experienced that uncomfortable sensation that came with being sized-up. It was not a feeling that Gina was unaccustomed to, yet there was something different about it this time, something more sinister. Shaking her head slightly as though to clear it, Gina responded, "I dont live in a cabin anyway so the news that camp is so crowded that people are spilling into the forest is rather new to me.", deciding to casually ignore the bit about wiping them out.

Gina wasnt yet sure whether or how much to probe, ordinarily such a comment would've caused her to laugh or at the very least offer her help but she sensed that neither would be appropriate just then. Without even realising it, Gina had resigned herself to the girl's presence, accepting that she wasnt about to leaving any time soon. Unexpectedly however, she also found herself getting drawn into a surprisingly intriguing conversation, You never know what you may find in the forest. Gina mused silently, while waiting for a response.

"Oh?" Choosing to ignore the long pause in the conversation, Stella leaned her shoulder against a tree, her interest slightly piqued by the girl's statement. If she didn't live in a cabin, then where did she live? Stella knew that there were people who somehow had underground bunkers or treehouses around here, but to be honest, this girl didn't seem like the treehouse or bunker type. She looked to be more of a dark, dank cave lover to her -- mysterious and magical, like everything was in camp. In a less cheesy and over-dramatic way, perhaps, too. "Then, where exactly do you live? I've heard of people living in caves and treehouses around here, but they're usually the romantic type of people who want privacy. I hope you're not one of them?"

Stella's examinations of the girl had given her the impression that, no, this girl wasn't a romantic type, but her first impressions weren't always accurate. She generally hated everybody and judged them all equally -- you're an idiot, and you, and you, maybe you too -- but hey, even she could admit she was wrong sometimes. Stella folded her arms across her chest, looking at the girl silently for another few seconds; at the moment, Stella thought that she looked slightly uncomfortable. Well, she thought to herself, that's no surprise. She was used to these kinds of reactions, since she tended to scrutinize every new person she met with a cold, indifferently judgmental eye and apparently nobody she met was used to that. She liked some people she met and others she tried to either kill or harass. It wasn't a problem for her, she didn't have many (if any) friends at all. She felt like the girl was going to give her a pleasant conversation, so at the moment, her mind was turned away from carving stick figures into her corpse.

"Anyway," Stella continued, flicking a lock of hair out of her face, "no, the camp isn't so crowded -- there're more people, yeah, but they're just exploring more. Looking for places to make-out privately, flirt. It's disgusting." She doubted the girl was totally ignorant of the camp's growing population -- she'd have to stay in her cabin (or whatever she lived in) forever in order for that awkward situation to happen. "They usually don't go this far into the forest, though. But eventually they'll have to start going further, since all the secluded places are being taken up."

Re: A clearing in the woods.

A small smile reached Gina's lips as she titled her head slightly to the right wondering how to answer the girl, "I do live in cave nearby" she said vaguely gesturing in the direction of her home, "However its not because I wanted to be alone with someone, but simply because I wanted to be alone and yeah I do like privacy, but my reasons are rather different ." Gina's razor cut hair fell in her eyes as she turned her head away from the girl , not surprised that the girl dint expect her to be the romantic type and a good thing too she mused, those giggly airhead demigods annoyed her to no end.

"Most people in camp are morons", she said, looking back at the girl as she impatiently brushed her hair out of her eyes adding, "I'm not sorry to be shot of their company." No sooner than the words left her mouth however, Gina bit her lip reflexively wondering if she had offended the girl. Judging by her surprised reaction when Gina informed her that she dint live in camp, the girl probably did and might have taken offense to her statement. Gina raised her eyes to meet those of the girl's again, attempting to gauge her reaction incase she needed to act quickly. However, Gina anticipated that the attack would never come. Although her instincts wernt foolproof, her years living alone under constant danger had honed them to near perfection and at the moment, her instincts along with the dispassionate tone in which the girl were telling her that the girl spoke of other demigods were telling her that she might be inclined to agree with her.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Post by Kendall on 5/24/2013, 3:32 pm

Stella unconsciously tilted her head to the side, her left eyebrow arched the way it always did when somebody's interested her. A fellow camp-hater -- what a wonderful sight. Of course, Stella had to consider whether or not the girl actually hated the campers, whether the girl were at camp just to train or to be "normal," and whole lot of other factors that annoyed Stella to even think of. She could be a poser, those are common, but she doesn't look she'd be the type to lie about something like that. Appearances were deceiving however, and she knew that all too well, but she still liked to judge people and if they did prove to be an idiot or weak, she had all the more reason to make fun of them.

But of course, Stella wanted to pursue the subject. The girl was probably opinionated and stubborn, but she liked that in a person provided that the person showed the least semblance of intelligence. People who didn't agree with her tended to be an idiot in her view and she liked keeping it that way, unless the person disproved it to her in some elaborate, amazing way. (And unfortunately, that was even more rare than shiny legendary Pokemon in Pokemon games, so Stella gratefully kept up her hatred for most of the people in camp.) There was little or no reason to befriend Stella unless she chose to befriend you first; normally Stella would start out an encounter by trying to intimidate or attack the person just because she thought it'd be funny.

"Should you ever be?" Stella replied in a dull, matter-of-fact voice, letting out another small puff of air at a mosquito by her arm. It went flying but remained around her arm's general area, trying to look for an opening in her "defense." She watched it out of the corner of her eye for a minute before resuming: "Most of the gods are morons, so it sort of makes sense that their kids are. No matter, though -- not a lot of them stick around for long. Too many vacations and not enough deaths."

Gina couldn't help but laugh at the girl's comment, so she had been right then- the girl was definitely not fond of the Gods. "Who's your parent then?", she asked, feeling a lot more comfortable around her now. Gina had noticed the pest that seemed to be continously bothering the girl and considered shooting a jet of energy at the bug with extreme precision to show off a little bit, but decided against it. Apparently, she dint need to break out her powers to make this encounter interesting she realized, her surprise at the fact rapidly fading. The girl before her was definitely something new, while her wispy build and flyaway blond hair gave her a rather weak introduction, Gina knew that these were the kind of people that often held the most surprises and was willing to consider that the girl was actually a lot stronger and sturdier that she appeared.

Rising from her perch, Gina strode over to a sprawling tree less than a few feet away in the general direction of the girl and leaned against it, resting her left foot flat against the bark.

Before answering the girl's question, Stella's eye followed the mosquito's course, waiting, waiting -- and then it tried to land on her arm again, shooting in a straight line for her exposed forearm. Another gust of wind from her mouth sent it tumbling ten feet away and straight into the trunk of a tree, where it buzzed for a few moments before flying away in defeat. She watched it for another silent moment before turning back to the girl, smiling pleasantly. They were starting to make their way to standard demigod talk -- name, god parent, favorite parts of camp. It was so normal for camp that Stella was sure everybody knew it, even the romantic idiots who wouldn't stop making out with each other in wonderful 'date' spots. Any new camper would fall into the pattern within days of arriving. "Sorry about that, it had to go. To answer your question, my god parent's Ouranos -- god of the sky and all."

A brief question floated into Stella's mind: If Kronos had chopped her father to pieces, how was she even conceived? Did he form her out of a cloud, or...? She stopped before her mind processed any other possibilities; the gods had funny ways of reproducing, and Stella didn't want to get to any awkward ways.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Gina eyes widened at the girl's response, Ouranos? But that would mean.. "So you're a demi-titan then?" she said, looking impressed as she completed her unfinished thought out-loud. She surveyed the skinny blonde again, but with new interest. Looks like you're not the most powerful person in this clearing after all Gina acknowledged to herself, a little grudgingly imagining the awesome powers being a daughetr of the sky would entitle you to. Most of all however, Gina was now completely intrigued, she heard rumours of there being a titan cabin somewhere around this area in the forest but had never actually seen it, nor had she ever actually met the any of the titan kids, who seemed to like keeping to themselves even more than her. Perhaps this was a result of the recent Titan war, It can't have been easy Gina thought, to live in a camp filled with children who's parents were at war with yours. It had been awkward enough for children of the minor Gods, Hecate included, that had sided with the titans during the war. It had been hard enough living all cramped up in the Hermes cabin and what with all other demigods throwing them dirty looks all the time, it had been enough for many of her siblings to cross over and join Kronos. Gina, for her part, had opted to stay out of the politics emerging from the forest only during the final battle. That had been fun. Gina recalled, her lip curling a little at the memory. Ofcourse, after the Sea Boy's success secured the Hecate kids a different cabin, Gina could have returned to camp but realising that she valued her independence too much by then and without ever conciously making the decision, stayed on in the forest.

Still appraising the girl in front of her however, Gina thought about how many campers had begun to dismiss the rumor about Demi-titans in camp as a myth and insisting that they never existed, while some conspiracy theorists told anyone that would listen how the titan kids had formed a parallel camp of their own and were plotting to overthrow Camp Half Blood for revenge. Even so, Gina found it hard to understand why the girl would refer to Ouranos as a God? Unless, she meant primordial god. That must be it. Gina decided, it was inconceivable that the girl would be ashamed of her parentage, even if she dint want to identify herself by it. As Gina opened her mouth to respond however, a small confusing facet of greek mythology came back to her. Wasnt Ouranos chopped into pieces with his own scythe? How exactly was he running around having children then? Gina was unsure about how to voice this, how does one ask someone if their dad is mince meat or not? Gina may not be the best at social graces, but she knew enough to be able to tell that, that would be a pretty touchy topic to broach. "Ouranos? The Sky? I thought he was um, indisposed.", she said a little awkwardly, not wanting to anger the girl in front of her.

"Demi-Titan? Why, yes, I and the rest of the people in my cabin call ourselves that." Stella tilted her head to the side, her hair brushing the bark of the tree she was leaning against -- of course that'd be brought up. Greek mythology had probably one of the most screwed up family histories in the world, with all the surprise-amputation and Zeus being a jerk and all -- Egyptian and Norse mythology didn't seem to have those sorts of problems. She had some knowledge of Egyptian mythology thanks to her cousin Benji, who was an Egyptian demigod herself even though Stella had thought this was supposed to be a Greek-only camp. Apparently not, though -- Egyptian and Norse kids existed, and nobody could deny it except maybe the Romans, who didn't seem to have any of them over in their camp. She guessed the only reason they were here at all was because there were only a few of them, so it would have been a bit worthless to make another entire camp just for them. If what she recalled was correct, the Egyptians and Norse didn't have the same "let's have kids all the time" attitude that most of the Greek gods had, both in the old stories and now. Stella's knowledge in Norse mythology was more limited, but she could easily have looked up old Norse myths in the library if she cared to go -- but she was confident they didn't cheat on their spouses so much.

"The gods are sorta funny that way, aren't they?" she drawled, shrugging with the shoulder against the tree. The bark scraped against her t-shirt sleeve and made it ride up a bit when she lowered it, exposing a bit more of her arm than would have been usual. "They'll find ways to have kids even if they're mince meat. Or male -- like Zeus and Athena and Dionysus and all. Demi-Titans exist even if most of our parents are in Tartarus or exist as ground beef, and I never really cared to ask my mom how I was conceived. After all, no child wants to hear where he or she was conceived, do they?"

She sincerely hoped this girl wasn't one of those damnable wannabe-hero types -- she had had enough of those types of people, having met plenty who decided they wanted to fight her during her years in camp, with mainly disastrous results for them. Stella didn't think the girl was going to fight her, though -- it appeared neither of them were in the mood to fight on this wonderful, quiet night in the forest. Maybe she could recruit Chris for that little adventure, he'd like to teach those people a lesson too; Stella was confident he was the only Demi-Titan who didn't really care for her own psychotic tendencies, aside from Maap (but he'd been gone for a really long time). It was probably Chris and Stella's fault for the "psychotic Demi-Titan" image following the DTs around camp all the time, but Stella didn't much care for hearing about and improving that image. In a way, she sort of liked hearing people talking about "those psychos in the Titan cabin;" the truth was over half of the people in the cabin weren't psychotic in the least, but hey, if people wanted to judge them based on only two or three people, fine by her. If those non-psychos wanted to prove they weren't like the real ones, then they should feel free to do all they could to destroy the psychotic-DT image haunting them all, Stella would just do more to keep the image the way it was.

Gina couldnt help but chuckle when the girl said "mince meat", so she wasnt offended after all. I could get along with her she thought smiling. The girl was right though, the gods were unstoppable procreators, reaching out even from the depths of tartarus to sire children. "Is your cabin around here?" Gina asked, adding "I've never actually seen it or any of the demi-titans to be honest. I take it you dont enjoy the company of demigods?"

Shifting slightly on her seat, Gina felt her dagger's hilt dig a little into her thigh and found herself thinking about how easy it was sitting her talking to this girl. Gina dint feel compelled to draw her weapons nor fight this girl in any way, strange. However she was glad that the girl seemed to share this feeling, it was too nice a night and the silence was too absolute to be ruined by the sounds of fighting and screams of pain.

Surprised by how poetic her thoughts seemed to be, Gina shook her head a little trying to snap out of it. "I'm Gina", she said to the girl, opting to introduce herself first when she realised that they hadnt yet exchanged names. This wasnt surprising, she often preferred not to reveal any details about herself when she did run into company-she dint want people looking for her. She was also equally uninterested in finding out details about other people but this conversation might be one of those rare exceptions, whether and how much the girl wanted to divulge however would be entirely her own decision.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Stella raised an eyebrow at the mention of the old cabin -- how people still knew of it, she didn't know. She remembered she'd visited it a couple months back and it hadn't been falling to pieces, but you know, things can change rather fast in this place. She made a mental note to go check on it later. "Well, no. We have a Titan cabin with all the other cabins in camp, but there's the old one in the forest somewhere just collecting dust. I still have stuff in there, though, so I don't appreciate seeing people lurking through it." Notably, that "stuff" wasn't really important (ie: a few cardboard boxes, some YuGiOh cards from when Stella collected them, etc), but she still liked terrorizing anybody who went through it. It had too many memories to just be considered an old, abandoned place anybody could just step in, and as long as Stella was still in camp she would make sure nobody decided to violate the image of the place for her or any of the other demi-Titans still around from that wonderful era.

"I don't enjoy anybody's company, except for maybe a few people who like to indulge in the same activities that I do," she announced to the girl, almost proudly. "I don't need those other people much and they don't need me. They do need me, however, to shut them up once and for all on occasion, when somebody's turned into too much of a wannabe hero or villain. Too many of those nowadays, it's like this place has turned into a poorly written fanfiction universe." She scoffed at the thought, even though it was pretty funny; Stella liked to say that human personality traits varied as much as the color spectrum so that each trait was available to a person, even if they didn't see it in themselves. However, the personality as a whole was a written character outline by the Fates -- sometimes poorly made in ten minutes, sometimes beautifully written in three days.

"I'm Stella." She wondered briefly if this Gina girl had heard of her before; she was fairly infamous in camp for her, ah, hobby, and that was just being a bit modest.

Gina raised an eyebrow, "Really?" she said sounding more than a a little surprised. I've really been away from camp a long time she thought to herself, deciding to go check it out again sometime soon. She dint necessarily have to interact with anyone, she decided, just stay for a bit, lurk..maybe even stop by that cabin she was supposed to live in. Nodding in response to the girl, she said "I know what you mean. I hate when I find intruders poking around my cave." her lip curling slightly, she added, "they deserve what they get." Gina thought absently about the last time an intruder decided they would barge into her cave, that'd been the last place she'd go snooping to. Admittedly Ryan had been there last time but Gina was more then capable of dealing with intruders on her own she thought, mulling it over with wry smile reaching her lips.

Gina's smile stayed on her face as the girl said something that was strangely familiar to her, not needing people. Despite their surprising similarities however, there was one stark contrast between the two girls, Gina dint kill for the fun of it like this girl supposedly did. She killed when people interfered in her life, tried to mess with her or generally pissed her off. She dint seek troublesome idiots, they apparently sought her out. Her ideal dint involve killing for the sake of it, though she could understand where this girl came from she realised nodding with grudging respect.

"I'm Stella." The girl announced her name as though she was expected some sort of response from Gina. However, not meeting many people equaled not being clued in on the who's-who of camp and unfortunately that would mean disappointing this girl if she expected to be recognized. Perhaps she was well known simply because she was part of the dwindling minority of demi-titans or maybe she was famous for something more particular to herself. Gina however had no idea and wasnt about to pretend as she answered dryly with just the hint of a smile in her voice, "Well, I dont say this often but its rather nice meeting you."

Without obviously acknowledging Gina's apparent lack of knowledge concerning her identity, Stella yawned and nodded at her. "Well, it's nice meeting you too, Gina. You make for better conversation that ninety-seven percent of the dolts in this camp, so congratulations on being sensible." If that was interpreted as sarcastic, Stella couldn't help it; she was too used to mocking people to get that sarcastic edge out of her voice when she needed to, so she was forced to amend herself a bit: "Meant in a non-sarcastic way." That was the closest Stella would ever get to admitting she was wrong, and if Gina didn't like it, she didn't care.

The night was getting slightly colder as it dragged on and, for a moment, the clearing they were in grew darker; Stella looked up and noticed a cloud had drifted over the moon and temporarily blocked its light. At the rate it was going, it would take another five to ten minutes for that stupid cloud to unblock the moon.  In truth, Stella hated it when clouds blocked the sun or moon, even if that cloud was her own dog Cirrus; she liked light in most shapes and forms, as long as that light wasn't directed at her eyes or to burn her. With an impatient flick of Stella's finger, the cloud shot away towards the east and then slowed down, enough to unblock the moon and allow the moon's light to grace the wonderful world.

If, of course, the world was wonderful and anything in it truly graceful. Stella had spent too much time hating everybody and everything to actually enjoy its "wonders," if those really existed, and she never really cared for anything except maybe her family, a few of her friends, etc. Everybody else could go to hell for all she cared; she was intent on sending as many people down to Hades as she could before she died, and she'd been quite successful (to be modest) with that mission. It was self-appointed, the best of all missions; the only person she could disappoint was herself, and since she was headed for a reasonable and rather nonspecific goal the disappointment was easily minimized.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Post by Alpha Wolf on 7/8/2013, 9:13 pm

Joel walked through the forest as night fell, a long but good day behind him, finally putting his demons to rest and confronting Sabrina. Things were rocky from that encounter, but it went well, thinking back on it, he smiled at how well it went. He walked along as he thought back to the encounter.

(Flashback Italics)

Sabrina glanced around the edge of the forest, finding a large and shady tree to sit under. Smiling a bit, she sat down and started listening to her music, one earphone in and leaving one out, in case she needed to react to something quickly. Putting on a random song she started singing, pausing for the instrumental breaks and finishing the song relatively quickly, she looked up suddenly at a familiar voice.

"Still as much a song bird as I remember." Joel said from the tree branch he was sitting on. He wasn't expecting to run into Sabrina, but she sat down under the tree he was in and started singing and all he could do was smile at the coincidence of her sitting there, it'd probably be a while before they ran into each other.

"Joel?" Sabrina asked, hoping, but not certain it was him. She thought he had abandoned her in Arkansas over the summer and she'd been a silent wreck since getting to the camp, avoiding social interaction because of how shy she was as well as not wanting to make friends and then end up all alone again. She couldn't stand that thought or even imagine it happening again.

Joel laughed at her questioning tone. "Who were you expecting, the Easter Bunny?" He asked as he hopped down from the tree and smirking at her. When Sabrina saw him she practically jumped from a sitting position at him and hugged him, holding back a tear of relief that he was alive, here, and ok, but mostly here. "When...when did you get here?" She asked.

"After my birthday that summer, A satyr came to my mom's door and told us about my dad, Holler Nordic God, and much to my argument I was brought here. I was actually in one of the tree watch point, guarding the border when you got here, I wanted to drop down and say hi, but you looked really upset so I just decided to wait." Joel explained as Sabrina let go of him. Sabrina smiled and the conversation from there went on

(End of Flashback)

Getting lost in his thoughts, Joel didn't realize how far into the forest he had walked, and found himself lost. He was relieved at having his bow and arrows with him as he climbed a tree and started moving through the forest like a natural born monkey. Soon he stopped, hearing the voices of two girls talking in a clearing. He couldn't make out anything they said from the distance he was at, so he moved closer, quiet as he could be, and saw a red-headed girl and a blonde haired girl. He grew a smirk as he grabbed his bow and pulled back on the drawstring, arrow ready to fire. Not much could be said about Joel when it came to asking questions and seeing who he was messing with before having at it, generally he just went with his immediate thought. Though he was smart, he loved to mess with people, and archery was such a great way of doing it.

Smirking as he aimed at a tree that was directly across from him, and right perfect for the line of fire to fly between the two girls, he released his arrow and watched it fly towards the target, burying itself in the trunk of the opposite tree, he waited to see the reactions of the two girls.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Post by Jules on 7/9/2013, 2:31 pm

Gina watched wide-eyed as Stella literally re-positioned a cloud in the sky. Holy Hecate she thought, experiencing mixed feelings of envy and amazement as she exhaled in a soft puff. Barely having registered Stella's comment, Gina smiled vaguely back at the her still preoccupied by her awesome powers. Gina suspected that impressive as this was, it was only a mere fraction of the girl's true potential.

Despite herself, Gina titled her head slightly to one side and appraised Stella with a sort of wary fascination. The same kind that often made Gina wonder if she would really mind being murdered if the murder occured in a particularly spectacular manner. "I'd love to see you in battle someday", she said, without really thinking about it. Then as though realising what that sounded like, a faint pink tinge reached Gina's cheeks and she quietly amended, "I mean I'd like to watch you in a fight, not face you in battle, Im sure it would be.. impressive" she finished a little lamely. She dint particularly care however, not wanting Stella to think she'd challenged her, despite the eerie calm of the night and the amicable vibe between the two girls Gina was sure a direct challenge would not go unanswered. It was obvious, she'd be the same if it was her on the other end.

As she pondered this absently, Gina head snapped up reflexively as she heard the unmistakable swish of an arrow as one flew past the two girls, cutting across the clearing in the middle and then a twang as the arrow reached its mark, a large tree a little way ahead. A little startled, Gina narrowed her eyes staring in the direction the arrow had come from. Her right hand automatically twitched toward the rough bracelet on her left wrist but she held still, for the most part atleast. Her eyes scanned the area carefully, deciding that it was too dark to possibly make out anything from this vantage point. Rising from her seat with a slow deliberate movement, Gina listened for any sounds that may provide a clue of where the arrow came from, was it a stray arrow from a hunter with bad aim.. or something more sinister? On hearing nothing, at first atleast, Gina turned to meet Stella's eye thinking of how, if the arrow was to announce someone who intended to pick a fight, she might have her wish fulfilled before long.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Stella raised an eyebrow at Gina, not quite sure how to respond to her compliments. She was used to awed reactions when her powers were on display, but nobody really told her that they wanted to see her fight -- but then again, those other people knew of what she did and knew that it was advisable to avoid witnessing those... massacres? Maybe massacres, Stella's opponents weren't always the best of fighters and she spent more time harassing them than actually fighting them. The fun lay in watching them try to fight back, even though it was always pathetically pitiful; best of all, most of them would actually believe they had a chance at winning.

Stella wondered how many people had gone down to the Underworld because of her. More than ten, surely -- twenty? Thirty? More than fifty or sixty if she could recall, not counting any people she may have killed outside of camp.

"Well, wander around camp a bit more and you might see me in action -- it's not a rare sight, front row seats are always available. Just try to ignore any calls for help from the other person, mmkay?" Of course, that would also be considered the Splash Zone. Stella also couldn't guarantee that she'd stop any attacks that somehow ended up heading towards Gina if she did decide to come and watch, but she was sure Gina at least had a little fighting ability and could defend herself if needed. The demi-titan wouldn't have minded Gina hopping in to join Stella in the fight; she needed more allies, since most of the other people like Stella liked to hide themselves away a lot. She'd enjoyed Vanessa and Vesh's company, but they were lone wolves -- Stella was too, but not as much as them.

The conversation dropped off after Stella's response, so she stood there, leaning against the tree and wondering if she could go stalk somebody new -- maybe one of the new demi-titans, they looked gullible and innocent enough at the moment. Chris already seemed to bully them enough, with his "I was in the Titan war, everybody should love me!" charade. Stella didn't do that, she'd fought for the gods for the sole (and selfish) reason of being able to harass their kids in the future. If Kronos had come back, the demigods (and any demigod-pitying demi-titan) would have been enslaved while any uncaptured ones would be hunted fugitives. She liked freedom for the demigods, it made it much more fun to track them down with all the moves they could make -- which wouldn't have been available to them if they'd been slaves --

Mid-thought, Stella raised her head and watched as an arrow swooshed by, hitting a tree a few yards away from them. She met Gina's eyes, frowning only ever so slightly as her fingers twitched, ready to summon her sword; if a person decided to leap out and attack them, or leap out and apologize, Stella would be ready to give them a swift smack to the head with the flat of her sword, since she was sure that killing them with a slash to the head would eliminate any possibility of them finding out the identity of the idiot. She scoffed slightly and glanced in the direction the arrow had come, wondering if summoning a cloud to create a bit of lightning for better lightning would be worth it.

Joel saw there reactions, but it was hard for him to believe what he saw. 'Seriously? Those have got to be the most boring reactions I've ever seen in my life! Like, gods, do these people not know how to put on a show? A shout or something would've been enough, but they just stood and took out there weapons...well one of them stood anyway. Gah this sucks.' He thought to himself as he kept mulling over his options. He had his sword with him, so if he needed to, he was ready for a close quarters brawl. But those are so tedious and somehow never freaking end.

He had to give the two credit. In the time Joel's been here he's shot arrows at people from all cabins. The ones that he's found to have the funniest reactions are the Aphrodite girls. They ever so constantly scream in hysteria as if they were expected to not get attacked at a camp that is basically all around medieval fair with real weapons. The ones with the rather annoying reactions are Ares kids and Apollo kids...Apollo cabin usually fires back, and Ares cabin hunts you down. But who doesn't love a good chase in the end right?

But the lamest, most boring reactions, are most minor god kids. They just act like it never happened. Leaves a bad taste in Joel's mouth for his time spent to mess with them. Alas, things were as they were and the same goes here. At least the two girls reacted at all. Though Joel was still annoyed by it, and in the end he picked a decision he probably shouldn't have picked.

With a slight shouldering of his bow, Joel hopped down from the tree and groaned. "Really? That's really the best you two can give me? Jeez, and here I thought I could use the night to have some fun messing with people. Here I guess I was wrong because all I got were two of the blankest reactions ever. I question why I even try." He said in his most sincere yet sarcastic tone ever as he started walking in the direction of his tree bound arrow.

Re: A clearing in the woods.

Gina narrowed her eyes at the slightly scrawny, dark haired boy that was advancing toward them. Her first instinct was to relax her stance, he posed no threat to her or Stella and particularly not to the two of them together. All the same however, Gina remained poised to attack, he dint seem dangerous but at the same time he seemed to possess a vague sort of unhinged air to him. Unhinged, unstable..in short, the unsettling demeanor of a lunatic.

As though to confirm her thoughts on the matter, the boy's next words were admittedly strange. Gina couldnt help but roll her eyes, Oh brilliant! Another wanna be tough-guy, stalking the woods in search of adventure. Whoopee-doo. As she opened her mouth to respond with a possibly scathing remark, Gina realised the boy was rapidly advancing toward herself and Stella. Despite the conclusion she had previously come to, she couldnt help but be slightly surprised, Definitely crazy and with a death wish too, as cliche as they come. Sure, he may not know of either Stella or Gina nor have any inkling of their murderous tendencies but it dint take a genius to know that walking up to two stranger you had just fired at wasnt the best idea.

Taking a few long strides forward, Gina closed the ever shortening gap between her and the boy and stood barely two feet from him. As she walked, Gina had briskly tapped her bracelet and caught her sword in her right hand in a single swift movement, the smoothness of which made one sure that it was an action that she performed often. The 3foot long celestial bronze blade sparkled wickedly in the dim moonlight, as she stepped up to boy and snarled, "Not the bright bulb in the bunch are you?"
