Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Post by Sienna on 7/14/2013, 8:07 pm

Angela slowly pushed open the door to the observatory. It made a loud creaking sound like a scratched record. It was empty, except for lots of dust that floated around in the sunlight. "Hello?" She called uncertainly, an echo filled the room, repeating what she had just said.

Sarah walked in. She hiked up her long skirt and adjusted her jean vest. Not an average teenage outfit. Well, Sarah wasn't an ordinary teen girl. She liked to call herself a Southern belle. She acted like one. Dressed like one. Talked like one. Maybe it was weird for a girl nowadays to want to be a Southern belle, but like I said before, Sarah wasn't an ordinary teen girl.
"Hello?" Sarah called out, her drawling accent showing through. "Anybody there?"

"Oh, hi. I was just... wandering I guess." Angela answered, until she heard someone behind her. She turned to see a girl with a thick southern accent, who asked who was in the room. "Uh, me... and her." she replied. Angela gave a small smile, after all, when in doubt smile and hope people like you. "I'm Angela." she introduced herself, giving a little wave.

I dashingly get behind my book stack shield as they started talking. I then started to peak out behind it. " I am Ember. " I say again shyly so my accent couldnt be herd. I take a book off my shelf and I start to read it and start to draw in it.

What a weird name. Ember. Sarah thought. See, Sarah was what you would call a simple girl. She never got good grades, you see, she was taught not to worry about that kind of stuff. Wasn't important. Not in her family, at least.
Sarah had heard of lots of prodigies, in fact, she knew one, but she looked down upon that kind of stuff.
"My name is Sarah Jean Gonzales," Sarah said proudly.

Angela nodded at Sarah, "Where are you from?" she asked, Angela didn't know many southerners. She didn't know very many Americans. Maybe growing up in Canada had it's downsides. New York was a vast and foreign land to her. The more she saw, the bigger it seemed to get.

"Tennessee," answered Sarah. "Oh hey!" she said to Ember. "You're my sister." She grinned and an arm around Ember. "You know, you really stutter a lot. Children of Hephestaus are s'posed to be all lean and mean, aren't they, darlin'?" she teased.

" Well, I guess I am diffrent then. " I play with the gears in my hands as I continue to read my books and write in them. " Uh, just a question, do anyone of you guys know where the third star of the right of Orian is called? No reason what so ever of knowing, just courious. " I say tilting my head up from my book.

"Orion..." Angela mused, "Isn't he the guy who got killed by a giant scorpion?" She slowly walked up to the telescope in the middle of the room, and hummed a vague tune that came to her mind,
"The second star to the right
Shines in the night for you
To tell you that the dreams you plan
Really can come true" She sang.
She hopped off the platform and did a twirl on one foot, "Take the second star on the right and head strait on 'till morning!" She said then giggled.

Sarah was disgusted. By both of these girls. One was shy, one was unrealistically happy. And Sarah didn't have either one of those traits. Shyness, to her, wasn't important. Why would someone be so afraid of people? And happiness... Well, let's just say Sarah never experienced "happiness." It was kind of a foreign concept to her.
