Sparing Time

Post by beanie on 2/9/2014, 8:47 pm

Danny walked into the arena, his sword sheaths strapped to his belt. His light red t-shirt clung to his body while his knee black shorts was held up by his belt. Sighing, he unsheathed one of his swords, Spike, and started practicing before his opponent arrived. His movements were smooth, his blond tousled hair swaying with every thrust.

He had promised a girl he met by the lake, Darren, at least that was what he thought her name was. All the did was have a little chat before she ran off, asking him to meet her for a sparing seasion now. Danny was hoping this girl was at least good at sparing or else he came here for nothing. If she is good, then this was going to get interesting. He was up for the challenge.

The sun came into his eyes every time Spike came aline with its view. He stumbled back, trying to blink the blind spots from his eyes. Stupid sun god.he thought. When the blind spots vanished, he continued, he strikes to the air becoming more fierce in every swing. He only took training or sparing seriously, if wasn't doing either things then he would have a happy-go skippy personality.

He was so busy practicing that he didn't notice someone enter the arena.

Darren sauntered into the arena, taking all of the time she needed. She didn't really care that there was someone waiting for her; she'd come in on her own time.
She had asked a blonde boy to meet her at the arena she was in. He had pissed her off, so she figured that the best way for him to know his place was to introduce him to his place.

And there she saw him, swinging the sword around like there was invisible enemies charging him. She snorted as she watched him, and tightened her grip on her celestial bronze parazonium blade that hung down.
She could feel her push dagger in her pocket, and Fairbairn-Skyes fighting knife in her boot. She usually didn't take every one of hr weapons, but this was a special occasion.

She was wearing a red plaid button down with a gray spaghetti strap top underneath, black jeans, and dark brown boots. Her dark hair was up and out of her face in a bun, and her beautiful face was lined with dark lipstick and mascara. She was certainly a sight.

"So, are we going to do this, or are you just going to attack invisible enemies?" she asked, a smirk on her face.

((Sorry, kind of short.))

Danny jumped slightly when he heard a voice from behind him.  Whipping his head around, Danny saw the girl from yesterday. Turning to face her completly, he glared at her when the snarky comment came from her lips. He barely knew this girl and he already wasn't found her.

"Names Danny." he said in a deep voice,"Now, are you gonna tell me why I'm here or are you just gonna stand there smirking like an idiot?" A small smirk formed on his face. Two can play at this game. She may be pretty, but no one insults Danny Grant.

Wait, did he just call her pretty? He mentally smacked him self for thinking such a stupid idea. Putting Spike back in its sheath, Danny made his way over to the girl. He stood right in front of her, towering over her a little. He crossed his arms awaiting her response.

At Danny's comment, Darren's smirk grew deeper. She walked past him, and she wished that her hair was down so that she could flip it at him over her shoulder. "Oh, come on, dude," she said, turning around and walking backwards for a brief moment before stopping. "you know exactly why you're here." He probably didn't, and she knew that, but she had decided a long time ago that it was better to be confusing than a clear slate that everyone could read.

She pulled out her fighting knife with a tug from her boot, making it airborne for a second before catching it. She held it in her hand, turning it to admire the way the sun shimmied off of it, making it sparkle. Her fingers, one by one, went up from her parazonium blade in her opposite hand that was, at the moment, hanging down, the tip pointing at her toes. She really hoped she looked intimidating, because if she didn't, this all would've been for nothing.

"So, I repeat: are we going to do this, or are you going to just stand there?" she got into a fighting position, and she winked at him.

Danny growled at the girl. He just met her and he wasn't found of her. He faced the girl, his usuall good boy ways he was going to try completly slipping his mind. This girl was in for a big spar.

Crouching down into a fighting stance, Danny whipped out Spike once again. He was not intimated by this girl. He seen actual fights happen, no weapons or weapons. He been in a few after he was caught for pranks, so he had experience. Raising his brow at the wink the girl just gave him, he held a tighter grip on his sword. He gave the girl a blank stare before springing into action, swinging his sword at the girl. Lets show you!

Darren had been in many fights before, so this wasn't anything different.

Darren sidestepped Danny when he charged her, and hit the butt of her sword to the place on his back where the back and the neck connected. She tripped him, and threw her self onto him pinning him down with all of her body weight. Normally she would've touched her blade to his throat but she didn't. Too much energy.

"So, given up yet?" She asked with a smirk. And then, she did her final move: she used her power, and made Danny feel about thirty pounds, so that it felt like she weighed so much more. Her head started spinning from the power, so she eased off a smudge, taking off fifteen pounds from the thirty.

Danny was not going to give up. Even if this girl was going to throw him off balance.

Slamming both of his hands on the ground, he pushed Darren off him, even though that took a lot of his energy. He jumped to his feet, getting back into his fighting stance. He decided to use his power against this girl if she was using hers. He zipped back and forth, leaving small cuts on her arms and legs. He stopped, smirking as he looked at the stunned girl.

"Ah!" Darren yelled as she was thrown. She was suprised when he ran so fast, leaving marks that would obviously become deep scars soon. "You little-" she kicked him, so hard that he fell down, and jumped on top of him again, this time using most of her power. She made him feel like she was her normal body weight, plus eighty  pounds. Her head was swimming, and she felt like she was about to drop, but she tried to keep a fierce look.

Hopefully, that would be enough, because she had a feeling that she wasn't going to be able to keep up the power or fight any longer.

"Ngh!" Danny struggled to get up, but the girl was putting to much pressure in him. The fall busted his hands a little, kinda making them feel numb. There was no way he could get up in this state. He stole a glance at Darren, seeing that she had the face you had when you get a major headache. An idea came to his mind while a small un-noticeable smirk came to his face.

"All right! All right! Uncle, uncle! You win!" he pleaded, hoping to get her to get off him. He looked up at Darren, giving her the good boy look he gives to most of the girls at his school."Now can you get off of me?"

Darren knew she shouldn't have been using that much power, and she didn't realize it until now. She stiffly nodded and murmured "Mmmm hmmm," before falling off of Danny.

She was so vulnerable. God damn it, you idiot! she cursed herself. Why didn't you just listen?! She took short breaths, trying not to pass out. She repetitively blinked her eyes, trying to just make them focus, because all she could see was the world spinning around her. She coughed, and lost her balance wile trying to cover her mouth with the arm that was keeping her body weight supported.

This was not going to end well.

She didn't even notice Danny's look that he gave her. She was too busy watching the world revolving around her at an immense speed.

Danny got up, a confused and worried expression on his face as he kneeled down to Darren. She looked bad, as in sick bad. His earlier plans fanished as he peered closely to her face.

The situation reminded him of when he was 9 and he was at the park with his sister Jasmine. They had gone on the carisol and she kept making him spin her round faster and faster. She ended up flying out of the thing and into the ground. She had a couple if cuts which made them go home.

"Hey are you ok?" he studied her face closely, his voice full of concern.

Darren wanted to laugh.
She wanted to raise an eyebrow and say Really? Dude, we were just fighting. Why are you asking me if I'm okay?
She wanted to roll her eyes, and then get back up and fight some more.
And she would've.

If she were able to.

Her already short breaths slowed even more, and she started to zone out. Focus, Darren. Focus.
She tried to talk in deep breaths, but it didn't help at all. Instead, it made her lungs burn and her throat feel raw. She blinked furiously; she was getting dizzy. She lay back down onto the tough ground. Rocks and pebbles and stones of all sizes pressed into her back, and she squirmed a little. She couldn't tell if she was about to lose consciousness. All she knew was that she was an idiot.

Danny wanted to just leave the girl here and continue his day. He wanted to leave her fend for herself but he knew that would be wrong, even though he wanted that to happen.

He continued to study the poor girl, waiting for her to say something. She just layded there. He was growing impatient. It was annoying him how they were just fighting and now he was worried about her. Sometimes he could be so stupid in times like this. It bugged him.

Thats it. he knew she needed help but he wasn't sure if he should take her to the infirmary. Stuff it. he picked her up and started making his way to the infirmary, not caring for what she says.

Darren yelped a bit as she was picked off the ground. Let me go! she tried to command, but didn't have the energy to. Her breathing slowly - very, very slowly, began to return to normal. Her heart race returned to normal, and her skin lost the pale glow that it had previously contained.

"You can... put me down," she whispered. She as grateful that this guy who she had only just met yesterday was nice enough to want to help her.

"Yeah, I'm an idiot," she said to herself. She couldn't believe her stupidity. And above that, she couldn't believe ho weak she must have looked. "Idiot," she repeated.

Danny looked down at the girl, seeing that she concious."Oh!" he set her down on the ground, to avoid any awkwardness. He stood back as she stood up. Danny rubbed the back of his neck, not knowing what to say.

"So, uh, what exactly happened to ya?" he asked after a moment of silence. Hey, it was the best he could come up with. He fiddled with the hem of his shirt as he waited for Darren's reply. She probably thought he was an idiot.

Darren sighed, rubbing her eyes. She looked around, wondering where she was. "I overpowered myself," she said, looking down, and pink bloomed in her cheeks. "It was stupid, and irresponsible, and I keep forgetting that that happens, and when it does..." she shook her head. "I'm sorry that it happened." She picked up her Fairbairn-Skyes from the ground.

"Thanks for helping me," she said with no emotion in her voice, and turned the opposite direction to walk away.

She wasn't trying to be rude; she just didn't want to be there was he began to think she was weak, because at that moment, she was.

Danny eyes went wide as she said these things. It was ok to make mistakes. Heck, he made at least 4 times a day. He looked up at the retreating and sped up to catch up up with her. He placed a hand on her shoulder, stopping her in her tracks. He took a deep breath before talking.

"Look, it's ok that you made a mistake during the sparing time." Danny hesitated before continuing. " The thing is that your supposed to learn from them. So, you know, get better or something." That was pretty cheesy, but he wanted to make her understand, even if she didn't want to listen to him. He hated sometimes for that. Danny patiently for the girls answer, his grasp on her arm not slipping.

Darren's eyes went wide as Danny stopped her. She hadn't realized that he actually cared enough to help her out. She turned her head to look down at the hand that was holding her in place, and hesitantly shrugged it off.

"Thanks," she said, sighing. She was still embarrassed about the whole event. How is it that not only did she lose the competition after she was sure she could win, but she managed to faint as well?

But, the blond guy had a point. You do make mistakes, and then you learn from them.

Code for: don't overpower yourself next time, stupid.

She self consciously rubbed her arm with her opposite hand, feeling ridiculously vulnerable.

Well, this is awkward.he thought as Danny looked down at the dirt. He was glad that he got her to understand but the silence was not very good.

"Well, see ya." he said as Danny turned around and started for the Hermes cabin, whistling a small tune as he went. He didn't really care if they couldn't finish their sparing session. He continued to walk off, picking up Spike as he went, putting it in its shelf.
