PostSubject: Ashes (private)   2/27/2014, 7:56 am

Like once every week, the campers of the Minor War Gods cabin had their lesson in the forge with the Hephaestus cabin. Falko was not very good at forging, she always burned or bruised herself somehow and the heat was just unsustainable there -- in short: she didn't like it, but was forced to whole herself to that place whether she wanted to or not.
There were not a lot of Campers in the Minor War Gods cabin -- well, not when compared to the Apollo, Ares, Athena or Aphrodite -- and they were clearly outnumbered by the Hephaestus guys.

Falko hoped that today's work would not damage her clothes too much: she was wearing a red punk shirt with a snarling demon skull, a white pair of designer trousers, a slim, cappuccino-colored belt with a golden buckle, combat boots and a delicate yellow gauze shawl that she took from her shoulders to wrap around her waist. She had some fashionable bracelets around her wrists and punk rings on her fingers, whilst a red-and-black make-up retraced and defined her Asian eyes.

The moment she stepped into the Armory, the wave of heat hit her like a backhand blow. She had the impression of being right in front of an oven, if not inside.

OOC: Make them work in a pair?

Alence had been in the armory before the lesson with a few other Hephaestus kids, being the children of Hephaestus the Armory was undoubtly their favourite place in this camp. Alence liked it so much that even the heat felt like the usual cool London air to him, while actually he was sweating in the heat. His light brown eyes were still fixed on the wire as his ears caught movement of other campers coming in. Alence was wearing his orange camp t-shirt that fitted him losely and the usual denim jeans. Unlike his twin sister, fashion was something that Alence would never care about. Though by judging his looks someone might mistaken him as a flirt son of Aphrodite with the dark brown hair and the soft fair skin.

It was the best part of the week for Alence. The only thing that could ruin this for him was working in pairs, if it is a Hephaestus child then he might not mind that since he would not have to explain anything. But if any other than a Hephaestus child, it was surely going to ruin everything Alence had planned. Alence was a being for whom talking was much more difficult than building a tank. To build a tank he would know what to do, but when it came to working with someone else that would include talking and then his mind's wires would burn.

"Alright so you're gonna work in groups," Nyssa announced, who was taking Leo's place in his absence. "Just get with somebody from the other cabin and choose an oven."

Falko scanned the Hephaestus kids. Who would she go with? She caught a glimpse of a very ugly girl and decided no, that burn on her face would keep her from concentrating, she egotistically thought. She roamed about as the chatter intensified and saw a guy, a bit younger than her, who was standing there, seemingly a bit lost though his eyes shone with eagerness. He was probably impatient to forge.

"Hey," the Asian girl told him, sweat from the omnipresent heat already beading her forehead. "Do you want us to work together?"

Alence sighed heavily as he heard Nyssa’s word. There goes his perfect part of the week. He just stood there staring at the crowd as everyone got into pairs. Yeah this could work! He could see that there were more Hephaestus children; this meant that it was not possible for every pair to be one Hephaestus and one Minor war god child. He could just stand there not attempting to find a partner and voila! He’ll get a Hephaestus kid! Or even better, he could work alone!

Alence stood there waiting for everyone to finish up and then he could go to Nyssa and say that he could not find a partner. But to ruin his plan, came the Asian girl. Well he could not refuse, that would be rude. So he just nodded and started his way towards an oven. It might feel rude that he did not say anything. But in his bad mood saying nothing was just more polite than saying anything.

The boy didn't even reply. How rude, Falko thought. She raised her chin and stepped to the oven, keeping her distance to the boy. Nyssa announced they'd have to forge swords today, for the Camp Armory, which drew nods from the Hephaestus guys. Forging sword was like, their everyday routine.
Falko of course couldn't say the same.

The Japanese-Italian girl swiftly braided her black hair and looked at the guy.

"I'm gonna fetch the bar," she said and went to the large bench where celestial bronze bars were scattered for people to take and use. She chose a medium-sized ones and came back, holding the heavy metal with both hands. "Here you go," she told him, handing it over to him so he could put it into the forge. The heat hit her like a burning blow. "Do you want me to go and get a bucket of water?" she asked with irony in her voice, her tone meant to indicate she did not appreciate his coldness.

Alence too nodded as Nyssa announced that they were going to forge swords today. He was about to go and fetch the bars, but before he could do that the girl had already left. Well she is helpful – Alence thought.

Alence silently took the bars from the girl’s hand, and placed them in the oven. The heat usual to his skin. He then straightened up when he heard the girl’s voice. He did not exactly understand of what she meant by that tone. This was one of the reasons of why Alence did not talk much. He never was able to make out of when they were being sarcastic or what different kind of tones meant. He raised an eyebrow  and replied in a confused tone, “Err… umm no it's okay, the guy over there is getting the water.” Alence said and pointed in the direction of one of his siblings.

OOC: I am SO sorry for the long time no post!! /slaps herself
Also, you got my PM, right? You should perhaps leave the 'we don't need a bucket of water part' out ;)

BIC: Before she could add anything, a tall Hephaestus guy put a bucket of water next to them, and next to the group to their right, then went to fetch some for the other groups.
The ovens of the Forge were special, Falko knew, because they were able to heat a blade white in record time. Fortunately though, they were only asked to heat them red for the beginning.
Once the bar was glowing cherry red, Falko pulled it out of the oven with a pair of heat-resisting pincers, and laid it on the anvil, still holding it in place. Next, she grabbed a hammer and looked at the guy.

"So we hammer in turns, now right?" she asked, unsure.

Alence looked at the hammer in the girl's hands; Alence could tell that the girl did not do much of rough work with those hands which weere soft and rather small -as Alence saw them- for the work. His sister Alexia's hands were very mach the same, but Alexia was a daughter of Hephaestus, she knew how to do the work with care, and yet she had those little burn marks and injuries on her hands. So looking at the girl Alence thought that she might hurt herself badly if she hammered. And though Alence was irritated he did not want that. Taking the hammer from the girl's hands he said, "Yes hammering is the next thing to do."

"Hey, no, give me my hammer back," she said, holding on to it. "Dude, this is not the first time I forge."

Having managed to get it back, Falko held on to her hammer tightly and started bringing it down on the bar of metal, one time her, one time the son of Hephaestus, in a regular motion. Soon, the ear-droning clanks of people hammering filled the Forge, and her poor eardrums winced. How could people work here the whole day and not get deaf, like seriously? Except if they had earplugs or so.

She had some in her cabin, she thought with regret, why didn't she bring them? It wasn't the first time she went forging.

"Are you going to tell me your name, hammer kid?" Falko asked the boy over the noise of their hammering, grinning at him.

OOC: Sorry soooo much. I had a lot to do as it was the starting of the new class and was unable to post. Sorry! :(

Alence raised his eyebrows and muttered, “Okay, then let’s start.” And he picked up a hammer, beginning the task of hammering the metal turn by turn. His hands knew of how to handle the tool, and applied the correct amount of force at the right places. As they continued to hammer Alence began to think of his time back home, and suddenly wanted summer to end. But then he knew he could not do anything about that except wait, so he focused in his task.

Suddenly over the loud noise of hammers he heard the girl’s question. Hammer boy? Alence had neither bothered to introduce himself to the girl, nor asked her name or so. Alence never really cared about such things of introducing himself, he looked up and answered, “My name is Alence Monroe”
