I smiled. "That's a pretty good trick. I would show you one but unfortunately I don't know any." I say to Sarah. "You got any other tricks?" I asked.

"No, but I can show you how to do the mind reading one. It's really simple in retrospect, but amazing if you don't know the secret."

"Okay, then." I say. "Will I need a piece of paper?" I asked her as Whisper started to walk around the room and chase her tail.

"Yeah." I watch her dog and laugh. "I love it when dogs chase their tails!"

I laughed. I wondered what dogs must think about when they chase their behinds. Whisper seemed especially good at chasing hers. She actually caught it once, then realized it hurt her. I grabbed a spare piece of paper for what Sarah was going to show me.

"um, okay." I said as I thought of a question. "open-ended means not a yes-no answer right?" I asked. I didn't want to choose a yes or no answer question. I had to be sure.

"Yeah. You also want to think of an either-or question, which can be yes or no."

"okay." I said. I thought of a very simple question where everyone - well everyone here at camp - would say yes too. "I've got a question in mind."

Sarah Leafpyre
"So, ask me your open ended question. But, while you're writing down what I think is supposed to be your guess to the first open ended question, write down what you think I'll say to the either or. That's why I got the color one wrong: I chose the wrong option of the two I gave you. Then, when you're writing down your supposed guess for the second open ended question, write down MY answer to the first. Third, you ask the either or you thought of beforehand and wrote your answer to first. You try it on me, even though I won't be amazed at the end cause I know it."

"okay." I said as I wrote down blue on a piece of paper. "Are you a demigod?" I asked her smiling. No-one in camp could say no, unless you were a satyr or nymph.

I shake my head. "No, you ask your yes or no last. And you write what you think the answer will be to that first."

"okay. let's try that again." I turned over the paper I wrote on and scribbled yes on it. "okay, so I ask you my either or question first?" I asked.

"No, save the either or for last. But you write what you think my answer to that would be while I think you're writing my answer to the first question, which is open ended."

"okay." I said. I thought it through. So I write down her "answer" for the last question now, then ask her my open-ended question now. Easy. "I got it now. What's your favourite place?" I said, hoping this time I would get the trick right.

"okay." I had actually already wrote down yes for the last question. I remembered that she had scrunched her papers up and got another paper to write down the answer she asked for. Though I was going to play it safe, so I waited for her next instruction.

"So, crumple that up so I can't see. Now, my favorite place was the lake. Write that down, but don't crumple it up. Just say it's to check your answer, but it's also useful for when you write down your next 'guess' so you don't have to remember it."
