We all need somebody to lean on {Private}

Post by moriarty on 6/15/2014, 9:44 pm

Hope rolled along the cement near the water. She decided to stop and pulled a book out of the bag on her lap. It was "Cry the Beloved Country" one of her favorite books. It was a little weird and long winded, which she loved. She relaxed and read it from the beginning, savoring the beautiful images and vivid descriptions.

Juliana was solemn. The gentle little waves that formed on the lake had always captivated her, as if she was yearning to return to her old nation of France and give her mother's ex-husband a piece of her mind, but every time she thought about doing something, she just abandoned her thoughts. Her hands were grasped behind her back and her hair played with the whisks of air. She was wearing an elegant yet whimsical white dress, but she was bear footed. She had an air of strength, and grace that matched any girl of Aphrodite, but it was weird...she didn't look frivolous or actually keen on her appearance, but rather, mystical and dignified.

The winds blew, but she was unaffected. The birds sang, but she paid no attention. Her mind had traveled far beyond anything she could possibly envision. She was as firm as a statue, but she was not in any way meant to display power or strength. She was majestic, but covered her grandeur with her form. She was surreal, and yet she was here. She was neither too bright, nor too dull, she was just there. Standing still with the waves dancing in front of her.

Hope was buried deep into her book. She noticed another figure on the beach, which she paid no attention to. She was reading deeply into the story. The character development, the imagery, and the different style of dialogue kept her captivated. She brushed her white hair behind her ear to keep it out of her face.

As she took the whole place in, Juliana turned around and saw another person on the lake. She had white long hair and was on a wheelchair. Yet still the optimistic and curious person she was, Juliana traveled to her and a big warm smile formed on her face.

"Hello there. My name is Juliana Solidor Lumiere, but you can call me Juliana." Said Juliana as she smiled at the girl and stood just beside her with her big eyes on the girl and an even bigger smile on her face.

As Hope read, she noticed the figure move towards her. She introduced herself as Juliana. Hope looked up at her with her redish purple eyes. "H-h-hello," she replied in an whisper. Hope hated talking to people. Most of her interactions ended with "Don't stare honey!" Or pointing and laughing at the white cripple girl. She buried her face back into her book.

Juliana was a bit surprised at her reaction. She knew the gurl was albino that was clear as day, but she didn't know why she was so terirbly shy. Still, ever the optimist, Juliana perked upped and grssped her hsnds behind her back. She smiled brightly at the girl and examined her throughly, as if looking at an experiment. It never really made her feel spoked or turned off,as in not romantically, by sick or sickly people. In fact she prefered them over normal people, becouse most sockly people she knew appreciated life.

"So, is that an interesting book? It looks excitingband interesting, like you dearie." Smiled Juliana as she looked at the girl's book.

Seriously, was she still there? Hope had thought she would go away after a bit, but instead, she stayed and kept talking. ""Y-y-yes it i-is. And th-th-thank-k-k y-y-you." She marked her page, and, without making eye contact, held up the book for Juliana to see. Hope just wanted to be alone most of the time, but she may have found one of the few people who didn't judge her at first glance. When she found one of those people, they judged her when she spoke.

Juliana smiled as the girl not he wheelchair handed her the book. She was a bit surprised at her kindness, but at that gesture she felt at ease and relaxed her smile into a simple innocent smirk. She wanted to encourage some conversation so the albino girl would at least try to cheer up and grow some confidence. She wanted to see her grow out of her shell and she wanted to see someone like her smile. So as she carefully accepted the book that the girl in the wheelchair gave to her, Juliana, who graciously accepted the book, skimmed some of the pages while taking notice of the mark the owner had place on it. She could read some things like the amazing descriptions and the narrative, but she had no idea on what the book was about. She pressed her fingers to the cover of the book and savored the soft, leather-like texture of the book cover, which felt nice and of good quality.

"Well dearie, you are someone who enjoys good things in life i see." Juliana joked as she returned to the girl the book while giggling softly. "The descriptions and the narrative itself are tremendous, but I am so sorry I do not understand what is it about. Could you please explain it to me please?" Asked Juliana as she grasped her hands firmly behind her back.

Hope smiled a little. Juliana was sweet, but Hope didn't feel like talking. Hope looked up a little to see her touch and leaf through her book. She handed it back while giggling. What was so funny? Why won't she leave Hope alone? Hope took a deep breath and tried to explain what it was about in the fewest words possible. What happened was exactly what Hope didn't want to happen. She stuttered through the entire story, which was about a man named Kumalo was travelling in South Africa. His sister was a prostitute, his son was a criminal, and his brother was a controversial politician. He then travelled around, trying to fix everything and make it right. It took place right before Apartheid. When she finished, she looked down and set the book in her lap. "I-I-I'm s-s-sorry." She didn't meet Juliana's gaze.
