Of Tragedy and Blood

Post by Brastus on 6/8/2015, 1:32 pm

In the year 2354, under the tensions between the rising Confederacy of Aestian States, and the Holy Empire of Regnum, the independent Kingdom of Narsundia, one of the wealthiest nations in the world and a financial and economical power, saw it’s own sovereignty threatened. In the fear of losing their identity, the Royal Family declared a marriage between the Princess Juliana Von Kronen and Prince Mairan of the Empire of Sinnah. While Prince Mairan would inherit the throne of the largest contiguous empire, his nation’s military might and economical stability paled in comparison to that of both the Confederacy of Aestia and the Holy Empire of Regnum. Yet, news of the marriages spurred pro-Aestian and pro-Regnumian factions inside the nobility of the Narsundian kingdom, threatening to lead the once peaceful kingdom into the brink of civil war. It was also safe to say that the marriage between Prince Mairan and Princess Juliana was a very unpopular one with the masses.

These factions in the Kingdom of Narsundia proved to be it’s outdoing. Without any control over his own nobles, King Bismarck Von Kronen was unable to raise a proper army against any invading force. Although Narsundia stood neighbor to the Confederacy, it was the Holy Empire who moved first against this crisis. After a declaration of war was officiated by the Imperial Senate, and the order to invade given out by the Caesar of Regnum, the Holy Empire’s military began an aggressive conquest of the Kingdom of Narsundia’s territory. In addition to that, after declaring war on Narsundia, Imperator Hadrianus Quintus Solonius, led all of his eighty legions stationed in Asian against Prince Mairan’s nation, thus halting any aid from the Sinnanian Empire.

With Regnum halting the Empire of Sinnah, the Fall of Narsundia went out smoothly. Although the Imperial Senate named a man to act as Imperator of over fifty legions against Narsundia, the commander of Legio XII, one of the more famous legions of the Holy Empire, Damian Gladius Valerius, also known as Damian the Black-Hearted, divided a plan that would ensure the fall of the Kingdom with the least amount of bloodshed. Using the full authority of the Imperial Senate, he sent word to the King of Narsundia about a treaty of peace between both states. Yet, it was all a clever ploy to allow the Twelfth Legion unlimited access inside of the Royal City of Margrace. Once inside, the Legatus ordered the city to be pillaged and plundered, forcing King Bismark to sign his proposed ‘treaty of peace’ which was in all cases a declaration of unconditional surrender. Now three days after Legatus Damian Gladius Valerius marched through the streets of Margrace under a false pretense, the world waits for King Bismark Von Kronen’s decision on whether to accept the treaty or to continue the war against Regnum in vain efforts.

I really enjoy your futuristic, Roman type of setting. Mostly because it reminds me of GoT. I wanna we more
