Made In Native America 250full-feed

The son of Neptune sat on the shore of the Atlantic Ocean with his knees hugged to his chest and his gave falling over the drag and pull of the sea. This was calming to him especially since he wasn't in Camp Jupiter and away from his Eagle. Chowilawu was shirtless, but had a stylish breechcloth that he had when he stepped out of the casino two months ago on his lower half. A pair of underwear were underneath it. Two parts of his hair was braided while the other was free ranged. Black and blue Native American tribal marks were on his cheeks to signify both who is father was and his native tribe.

Exhaling, Chowilawu looked down as the waves seemed to hug him, sensing the sadness that was coming from him. He hadn't met anyone that was his Ethnicity. No one to share the same understanding the culture of Native Americans. Even if they were from a different tribe than he was, it didn't matter. He just needed that person so he knew that he wasn't alone in this world.

Made In Native America Tumblr_mty7vkSR9t1rso7sto1_250

Adan didn't know how he got to the beach. He really didn't, and it was probably his stupid short attention span that was at fault. All he remembered was being out in the forest with some of his creations, then running away after what looked like a robotic spider came into the slightest view. He figured that the spider was his imagination at work, and now that he stumbled through the sand he repeatedly cursed himself for not paying attention to where he was going. Stupid hallucinations.

"...Do you need some pants?" There was this guy just sitting on the shore of the beach, and Adan almost ran into him since he was stuck in his own mind. The sentence was an accident. He had been trying to say "Do you need some help?" or "Where are your pants?", so yeah. Adan was wearing one of his favorite shirts while this guy wore none, and instead of jeans he was wearing a breechcloth. Something rushed through him when he recognized the garment, the same something that rushed through him when he opened up his tablet to read about his mother. It was, to be brief, cool.

Chowilawu quickly got to his feet when he heard a guy's voice behind him. "I-I apologize. Yes, I sure have pants on, but...I didn't except to see anyone at here." He stated, back up a bit. "I just wear this for comfort." It was true. He was still getting used to the idea of being in the twenty-first century and the customs that came along with them. The son of Neptune studied the other guy's features, analyzing him from head to toe with his eyes. "My name is Chowilawu Mohawk of the Choctaw Tribe." He stretched out a hand to him. "Or what is left of it."

"Sorry, sorry. That was stupid." Adan sighed at his choice of words and retrieved a screw and a nut from his pocket, putting the together and taking them apart. He shouldn't have started up a conversation, mostly because he asked weird questions and didn't know how to carry on. Luckily, the other guy - or, Chowilawu - knew how to. Adan moved the objects to his other hand and extended his free one to shake. "I'm Adan Lightfoot...of the Cheyenne Tribe...?" It was obvious that Chowilawu had come from another time and place, and Adan tried his best to respond the same way the other demigod had. He never really stated his race before unless it was a job application.

"Same, bro. Except I didn't really come from a tribe. I'm from South Dakota." Adan stopped shaking his hand and went back to messing with his screw. He didn't remember seeing Chowilawu around his camp. "Where are you from exactly?"

There was a glimpse of happiness in those brown eyes of his. Finally! Someone who was like him. "It's nice to meet you, Adan Lightfoot. Your tribe is famous on the Great Plains, Adan. You should be proud." He stated with a slight smile. He cocked his head to the side slightly when he mentioned where he was from. "South Dakota? Where is that?" He asked before stepping a bit closer to him. Looking him up and down like a prized horse.

"I come from the south east. Georgia? I believe that is where. I'm not for sure however. I am still learning." He answered, still circling him. "This New World is different from the other old one. Even the Natives dress differently." Chowilawu was still learning where the States were as well as the capitals. Currently he was working on the east coast and slowly making his west.

"Yeah, I am. I am proud. It's...south. Um," He took a slight step back. It wasn't on purpose though, it was just in his subconscious not to get too close because he may break something. He didn't really feel like breaking a new potential ally right now. The son of Hephaestus was just moving up on the social ladder, so the last thing he needed was to cause someone to break a bone. He also didn't like getting analyzed, because it felt like he was bound to mess something up when the attention was on him. Adan cleared his throat.

"Oh, really? Georgia's the place with the peaches." Peaches? Really? He wished that Aliana was here; she either knew exactly what to say when he didn't or they could just be awkward together. Anyway, he understood Chowilawu's confusion with the states. Coming from someone who didn't have any high school experience, Adan just made sure to learn that Texas has guns, Ohio votes, and California has movies. "Hold on. 'New World'? You must be from way back when, huh? That's insane."

He nodded slowly, trying to understand what Adan was talking about with the peaches. Chowilawu noticed that he had taken a step back. He did the same, wanting to give Adan his space. The son of Neptune scratched his arm.

Chowilawu sighed and looked down at the shore. "Yes. One moment I'm escaping from white settlers in eighteen hundred. Next thing I know, I'm here in the year two thousand fifteen." He answered, playing with a braid out of nervous habit. He looked back up at Adan and tried to change the subject from such a depressing one. "So, who is your blessed parent?"

"Oh, gods. I can only imagine what it must feel like to...miss a few lifetimes." Oh man, hopefully he didn't strike a chord right there. He didn't think about how monotone that sounded until it was too late. He didn't want to keep going and make the already wistful demigod anymore nostalgic, but if you haven't noticed by now, Adan has no clue how to act around other people. Maybe he could try for informative in his approach? "Yeah, you can't really call them 'white settlers' anymore. Everyone's finally getting used to not calling us Indians now, on the bright side."

Adan wanted to point out that he liked Chowilawu's braids, especially because he was absolute sh!t at braiding. He had only tried once when Aubrey, his sister, told him to. She punched him in the face when he failed and he never braided since. Hence why his hair was in a short ponytail now, accenting his undercut. "My dad's Hephaestus. Who's your parent?"

Chowilawu wanted to sigh, but he didn't want to make it seem like Adan was bringing him down. "Indeed it is." He stopped playing with his braid and paid more attention to his new alley. "Ah, I see and we call the freemen of color African Americans." He cleared his throat. "Actually I met one when I was in the forges looking around. His name was Malcolm and was extremely intelligent and skillful. I don't know where that assumption that they were stupid beings came from. Even back when the seventeen hundreds I met some pretty smart blacks." He stated, pulling the braid from behind his ear. "Then I read up on the history of the now United States. They were treated so horribly. Including our people. We all just wanted the same rights."

He was starting to get a bit upset which caused the waves to crash on the shore harder. "Hephaestus? That's Vulcan's counterpart." Chowilawu said in thought. "In that case, my father is Neptune."

"That's true. Of course, you don't just walk up and say that. No one...really walks up and says that. Nowadays, we like pretending that race doesn't exist and that none of the past ever happened." Adan squinted his narrow eyes at the ocean behind Chowilawu, watching in slight alarm as it started to grow violent. He looked back at the other demigod instead - his forte was the forge. Any of that sea or land stuff was none of his business. He smiled when Malcolm was mentioned. "Oh! Malcolm's my brother. Yeah, he's ridiculously smart and helped me out with this thing" - He went to point to his leg, put it was covered by his jeans - "Never mind. I also think that we're not allowed to call them that either. Again, we're not supposed to notice those things until the need calls for it."

"You're Roman? You're the first Roman I've ever met." It was true, although the camp was swarming with them Adan always chose to hide in cabin. They were pretty scary what with their scowling and Latin commands. Almost as scary as Eva. "And you're one of the Big Three's kids? Dude."

"Oh, okay. I will note that." Chowilawu nodded his head once. "B-but how do you pretend history does not exist?" This was all still very confusing to him. "At least people would tell you they hated you back then." He shrugged his shoulders some before changing the subject to Adan's half sibling. "Yeah he's an crafty man. I can see him doing great things in the name of your father. " He said in agreement before turning and walking toward the ocean.

He stopped when he was knee deep before turning back to look over at Adan. "Apparently I am. I also hope that I represent the Romans well." He smiled a bit. "I'm beginning to think that this term "B3" is a big deal. Unfortunately children of Neptune have a bad name ever since that one earthquake in 1908. Here though, the celebrate it." Chowilawu looked down at the shore. "I've only befriended three people so far. One of them is my Eagle."

"It's easy. You just smile, wave, and change how you speak." Adan shrugged and put the screw back in his pocket. He reached up to toy with one of the piercings in his ear before continuing on. "Oh, people still do that, too. It's just all about how you phrase it. But yeah. Malcolm's great. He was the first sibling I ever really spoke to, so yeah I can definitely see him doing great things later on." He followed Chowilawu towards the ocean, stopped before the water could reach his work boots.

"You do. Rather, you surprised me. No offense, dude, but you Roman guys are sort of intimidating." He moved his labret piercing around from the inside and scratched his arm. "I'm...pretty sure it's illegal to own an eagle. Unless that's a nickname or something."

Chowilawu looked over at the sea and sighed. "This world is so different." He put his braid back over his shoulder and glanced over at the son of Hephaestus. Thoughts continued to go through his mind as he tried to make sense of the new way of things. His heritage of being a Roman and understand the culture of the Greeks. It was a lot to take in.

He scratched his bare chest, staring at Adan. "No offense taken. I do not want to seem intimidating like the other Romans, but apparently jus because of my father is, I am. I met him in June. Told me that the reason they fear him is because they are not seafaring people." He explained while looking at his ear piercings. They were tribal. "My Eagle is Horace Maximus of New Rome. His father is Jupiter."

The son of Neptune gave the Greek another once over before speaking saying, "Where did you get that shirt...and those piercings?" He asked him, drawing the waves back so Adan could step closer if he wanted to.

Adan nodded in understanding. It wasn't that he could compare himself to a few-centuries-old son of the sea god, but he could picture leaving a life he knew well to be thrown into all of this demigod nonsense. It had happened to most of the others who lived here (and in the Roman camp, he guessed), though not under the exact same circumstances. He was tempted to say, "That's rough, buddy" throughout their entire conversation, though he deemed at as inappropriate because it both sounded insensitive and was a direct quote from Avatar: The Last Airbender.

"You're lucky. I've never met my father. Sometimes I'm not sure if I want to." Whoa. That got deep. Adan usually didn't express those types of things and it surprised him when he did. He picked up a rock and skipped it across the water to make up for it. There...he felt a little less uncomfortable. Chowilawu explained his eagle situation, and Adan grinned because he enjoyed puns. "Oh. Oh, I see what you did there. Eagle...Jupiter. That's great."

Adan wanted to skip another rock, but noticed that the water was suddenly further from him. He then realized that Chowilawu must have moved them back so that he didn't have to yell as loudly to talk to him. The son of Hephaestus walked a little closer, careful not to get his Converse wet (especially his left one since the wires had the possibility of emitting a dangerous feedback), and put his hands in his pockets. He looked down at his 'Made in Native America' shirt and shrugged. "I got the shirt from Urban Outfitters, I think. And my sister did my ears and nose. I did the labret myself. I don't have the rings in, but I pierced my lip and eyebrow myself too. I could give you one if you want."

OOC: I can't find any Michael Hudson gifs!

BIC: "Why would you not want to meet your father? I am sure he is a nice man-er god." The Roman demigod asked, rubbing his right shoulder with his opposite hand. Then Adan finally got what he was saying about 'his Eagle' which made him smile. Nearly made him chuckle. "Thank you. He's been hurt so I am going to fix his heart." He let his arm fall to the side.

Chowilawu took note of the things that the son of Hephaestus was explaining about his nose, ears, eyebrow, and other piercings along with his shirt. "That would be an honor. I want to look modern, but also still have ties to my culture. In return I will teach you about the ancient ways."

Ooc: Same with Martin Sensmeier :(( There're only, like, three different gifs that come with two/three variations.

Bic:
"I don't know. I guess I find him...like me. If he wanted to be bothered by me, then he would have appeared y'know?" Adan didn't like to speak much about Hephaestus. It wasn't that he was mad or anything at the poor god. It was just as he had said: the two were very similar, and if his schedule allowed him to visit then he was sure that Hephaestus would. Adan didn't want to appear. Eighteen years of pretending not to care about never meeting his father was nothing. Ha. He guessed he was pretending a lot now. Adan smiled at how Chowilawu spoke about the Roman. "Aw. Good for you guys."

He had to admit: he wanted to learn more of the "ancient ways" other than what he had from his little glass tablet. The only issue would be that the two weren't from the exact same heritage, but then again everyone did their routines differently. Adan would actually enjoy that, and even more so making this strange demigod more up-to-date with things. "I could help. Like, we could get you a shirt and, well, pants and sh!t. I mean stuff." Whoops. Adan was getting excited, which meant that sometimes his foul language would slip out of nowhere. "Sorry. But yeah, I could help you look modern, and you can teach me how to do the back-in-the-days stuff."

OOC: It sucks <_<

BIC: Chowilawu thought for a moment, trying to see where Adan was coming from about his father. He was right. If Hephaestus really wanted to meet one of his sons he could. It would be short, but at least he would get the chance to see is father. "Perhaps you could have met Sir Hephaestus at the solstice of summer meeting such as I did." He offered, but knew that a few demigods didn't want to see their godly parents and grandparents. The Roman fell to the damp sand by the shoes of Adan. "Thank you. What about you? Are you courting anyone? I skilled worker like yourself must have several females wanting you."

"Yes all those things would be good, but first you must get me a garment just like yours."
He stated, pointing to Adan's t-shirt. "And I want a necklace as well." Chowilawu moved his braids back behind his shoulders and sat down crisscrossed in the sand. "I know we are from different tribes so I will try to give you a general experience. You will learn much, Adan."

Adan tried not to laugh when he said the "summer of solstice", but again it was inappropriate. They could work on modern speech later, if he stuck around that long. "I'm fine. Olympus isn't my thing." It was true, more or less. He heard that the architecture was phenomenal ever since it began the rebuilding process, but it seemed too big and too easy for Adan to get lost in. Plus, his father probably wanted to see the children that did important and notable things with their lives.

"Ha!"
He did laugh out loud this time. Several females wanting him? More like either hating him, tolerating him, or beating him up. He hated to burst Chowilawu's bubble after he fell to the sand and everything but he had to. There was only one girl that he cared about liking him, one that didn't beat him up and understood his sarcasm. His felt his cheeks warm up, but doubted it would show. "Yeah, several is an overstatement. A very large overstatement. But I am...courting someone I guess. Her name's Aliana, a daughter of Iris."

"Clothing stuff means going into the city," Adan wasn't sure about that. Chowilawu was a son of a Big Three which meant lots of monsters, and he wasn't too confident about him being in a very loud and crowded city. With him being that old, he must have been in that Casino everyone talked about. Adan didn't know how he had survived in Vegas. "And you have to be Greek to get a necklace. I think. Thank you, Chowilawu. It really does mean a lot."

"Well that is still good, Adan. This girl you are courting is very lucky. Your children will be skilled workers just as their father is." Chowilawu gave the Greek a nod and gestured for Adan to take a seat beside him. This conversation that he was having was really interesting. Of course he'd met another Greek demigod here, Morgan, but she wasn't like Adan. "Iris?" He asked, cocking his head to the side the way a dog would. "I am not that good with your gods and goddess yet. Please enlightenment me."

"'The City'? Do you speak of New York City?" He asked him with his head still cocked to the side. So cute. Chowilawu showed the son of Hephaestus his SPQR tattoo. "So your necklace is the same as my brand?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. Then Adan thanked him which made the Roman smile again. "You are very welcome, friend."

Adan's eyes widened. "Oh, no no no. We're not h-having kids ever. I mean unless we change our minds but," Then even more when he realized what he was saying. "Not that I thought about it! We s-still have to go to college, and she's worried about personal things, and prosthetics are hard to put back on, and we did not openly discuss this so who really knows? I do, no kids. Nope." Adan wanted to slap himself for all the unnecessary rambling he went on to do, but unfortunately it was too late. Relationships were uncomfortable to talk about sometimes, especially when the other half was equally uncomfortable. It was why he and Aliana just ate breadsticks have the time. Anyway, he tried to ease his way down to sit beside Chowilawu and instead plopped down into the sand. He cursed at his clumsiness, also knowing that it would be hell to stand up again. "Iris is a rainbow goddess. She sends mail and makes cute daughters."

"Yeah, New York City." He confirmed and look at the demigod. With his head to the side, Adam almost smirked at the fact that he looked much younger when he did that. It was like a little kid learning something new. He looked down at the tattoo on his arm and winced when he called it a brand. Damn, Romans were crazy. "And yes, it's the same. Less gruesome, but the same. But who am I to talk?" He said as he gestured to the tattoos on his arms. "I do this for fun. Compared to you, I'm a masochist."

The Native American son of Neptune darted his eyes over the beach, then back at Adan. "But don't you want to continue your bloodline? It is very important if you do it." He stated, letting his eyes fall back on the Greek. It seemed like a private subject that only he should have with the girl he was courting and himself.
"Rainbow goddess. Seems harmless." He shrugged his shoulders a bit. "But I still need to respect her and her realm of...rainbow-ness."

"I have never been there before. Heard great things about the city however. Would you accompany me when I go? I could use some assistance getting around. As you can tell I am not "up to date" with the ways of the world." He smiled and gave a look over Adan's hair. His head cocked back to side when he explained that he was a masochist compared to him. He would ask what the meant, but he soon got a general idea of what he was talking back. Glancing back at Adan, he opened his mouth to ask him, "Do you want me to braid that for you?"

"A bloodline of blind troublemakers? I'm not into that." This was a very personal conversation that he would much rather avoid having with Aliana for as long as possible. He decided a while ago that he wasn't so much afraid of their kids (if they had any [which they wouldn't]) coming out with Aliana's blindness, rather Aliana ending up like his mother had during his birth. It might have been one of his biggest fears. He didn't want to lose her. Adan turned away to squint off at the music room far off to his left, then turned to the sand near his hands. He laughed at Iris' "rainbow-ness". "I've never met her, but I have a good feeling that she is anything but harmless. Her kids are terrifying as well as cute. It's like...a pack of small angry dogs. Though I might just be stereotyping from the few I've met."

Adan shrugged. "Sure, I'll go. We'll have to figure out how to mask your smell from the monsters and stuff. Other than that, I'll find you a Camp shirt and pants so you won't get arrested and you'll be set." He did want to go back into the city since the last time was on a surprise double date, and also because he needed another pair of Timberland's since the last pair caught fire (long story). He didn't see what could go wrong if he were to evil-proof the son of Neptune. It sounded fun. Adan needed fun, he was losing his essence. "What, my hair? I mean, if you want to. I've been letting it grow back since April."

Blindness? Adan wasn't blin--oh. That must've been the girl's affliction. Like stated previously, he decided not to touch that matter for fear of causing the Cheyenne Native American anymore discomfort. Chowilawu raised an eyebrow before straightening up his neck. "Oh? What can they do?" He asked curiously, imagining teenagers running around, blasting each other with colorful beams of light. Just the thought of it made him grin more. "Could they create those Iris Messages? I have heard that children of hers could make those appear." He continued before moving behind Adan.

Chowilawu thought for a moment as he combed his gentle fingers through Adan's hair. "Mask my smell? With what?" He asked as he continued to straighten his hair out. It felt just like his, maybe a bit thinner. "Perhaps with beaver musk will suffice?"

Adan was thankful that the matter of reproducing was erased from the conversation. That was a discussion he would procrastinate on having with Aliana until he was old. Like 30. Or 80. "Um...As far as I know, they scold a lot. The ones I know don't make rainbows or anything, but some of their other siblings do. Same thing with Iris Messages." Adan shrugged. "Maybe they're the odd ones out."

The feeling of hands in his hair that weren't his made Adan uneasy at first. He kind of felt the urge to run away, but that wouldn't be logical at all. It wasn't like Chowilawu was going to kill him by braiding his hair. Even if Adan wanted to run, it wasn't like he could stand up very fast anyway. He stiffened instead and tried to pretend that getting his hair braided by a stranger was not strange at all. "I'm not sure. If worse comes to worst though, I could probably create some type of monster-repellant gear. I might take a little longer than expected." He chuckled at the beaver musk. "I'm not going to de-musk a beaver, Chow. I don't even think that would work against any kind of monster."

He nodded his head slowly. Still the thought of teenagers shooting beams of rainbows from their hands was still quite comical to the son of Neptune. Now that Adan's hair was as straight as it could be, he started to braid into a single one. In Chowilawu's opinion, he the son of Hephaestus would look rather fierce and attractive at the same time. Hopefully he would think so too.

"Well, I am up for ideas, young warrior since you are more...uh, modern than I am." Chowilawu stated, still working on the braid. "And personally I believe that beaver musk would help."
