Life Before CHB: Her linguistic career started in ninth grade, where she took Spanish 1-4 in two semesters. In tenth grade, she took German 1-4 in one semester and finished the year off with Latin 1, 2, and AP. For eleventh grade, she wanted to learn Mandarin Chinese, but her school didn't offer it. She used the Rosetta Stone program, but since the language used different characters, it took her until the end of high school to finish it off.

She took a year off before college to round off her studies in Spanish, Germanic, and Chinese speaking countries. She became so good at the languages, native speakers couldn't guess she was from the United States. She also visited Greek and Roman sites, where she learned a bit of modern Greek and Italian. She took these two classes at the same time in her first year of college. For the rest of her credits, she did study abroad programs in Africa, Egypt, Brazil, and Russia.

After graduating college, she learned American Sign Language with her fiance. They married after the course. Ever since she started junior high, she has been running from and fighting monsters. When she got pregnant, the monsters got worse. Because of that, she fled to Camp Half-Blood with her husband, hoping to receive refuge from Chiron.

Life Before CHB: Soren spent his life from girlfriend to girlfriend. Every time, he gave her his all, but things wouldn't work out in the end; She moved, she wasn't right for him, she cheated on him, he overreacted.... In his senior year, he finally found the perfect girl. Unfortunately, he had to go to France for two years. They courted through letters written in Ancient Greek during that time. When he got back, they took a class together as a final test. Several other half-bloods attended their wedding. While monsters have been after him since fifth grade, his two year trip was without problem....
