Life Before CHB*: Irene was spoiled when she lived in Venice, Italy. She lived with her mother and grandparents. But there was one thing Nova never let her daughter do- Get near the rivers, or even in the gondolas. But this was Venice, and Irene was used to getting her way. So one day she and her many friends snuck onto a gondola. Her friends were fooling around, and the boat capsized, sending Irene flying into the water. Almost instantly her gills appeared at the side of her neck. Her friends freaked and ran away, and she eventually made it home. Nova had already found out what happened, and figured it wouldn't take too long before word spread. She had Irene pack her things and leave for New York.
RP Example*: Irene put up her hood and stuffed her hands in her pockets as she scrambled to the top of the hill, where she clearly saw that tall pine tree. As she got closer, she saw a scaly something curled around the base of the tree, but that was surely just the pounding rain tricking her... Until she reached the tree and saw it was a dragon. Thank the gods it was sleeping, she thought as she tiptoed past the dragon and then ran the rest of the way down. Then she realized--Ariel was missing. Irene whirled around. Her dog was sniffing at the dragon, still high up on the hill.
