Prologue

I sat on the edge of the balcony, watching the lake from above as the balmy breeze whispered through the cabin. It must've been close to one, but the moon still shone reflecting off the still water.
There was rustling in the forest, but I wasn't concerned because it was probably just something roming around for tomorrow's training, but I couldn't hel[ being curious. And cautious. Hey, this was camp. Anything's bound to happen.

That's why when a hand clamped over my mouth and I got knocked out, I thought I was a real idiot.


I came back to a while later and realized I was in the back of a pickup, my hands bound. The kid driving was about my age, with sandy blonde hair.

This is who kidnapped me? And he's driving?

he glanced in my direction.

"Took you a while." was his only comment.

"Well, it's still dark." I retorted.

"You're a smart one." he shot back.

I decided to get to the point.

"Alright, buddy, what's your thinking here? You don't just drive into a camp, pick out a random half-blood kid who's you're age and 'kidnap' him."

"My name's Alec. And I needed you, Jason, it's not a coincidence."
he said over his shoulder.

"So, then why do you want me?" I said to 'Alec'.

"Tell you when we get there."
he said shortly.
